< h1 class = "pgc-h-arrow-right" > the training and condition adjustment of the young birds</h1>
Training up to one year old is the foundation of the pigeon's growth, and setbacks at the beginning of the road can have a negative impact on the future performance of the pigeons.
Therefore, regardless of the season and distance, I choose good weather for young birds and sometimes mix old birds of about two years old in the flock as guides.
My loft is located in the Nagano Plain, where rivers crisscross the rice fields, and in autumn whenever the cold current comes, the difference between temperature and water temperature can easily form a fog, and in order to avoid the fog, I always postpone the start of the training of young birds by one month.
Since it was only released on good days, my pigeons were almost unable to fall after more than ten private trainings, and the loss rate of the young birds in the subsequent pigeon racing session was only half that of the other lofts.
Having a strong team of pigeons, you must also observe and adjust the status of the pigeons at any time.
Twelve days between the end of last year's 500 km race and the 700 km race, I closed the loft to allow the returning runners to rest for five days, then let them water bathe, fly at home and carefully observe their condition.
The pigeons were very tired and the loft manager thought that the races would be less promising depending on the situation at home.
However, by the 700 km flock a few days before, the pigeons had been able to continue to fly home for about an hour, and the first inspection found that most of the pigeons were thin, and I felt that after three or four days of increasing the amount of bait, the pigeons would reach a good race, which was expected to estimate the rest time of the pigeons on the way to the release site, and judged based on the fact that the release day would encounter good weather.
As expected, these runners flew very well in the 700 km area N race.
In the spring of 1994, a Kyoto fancier came to help me during the 500 km pigeon collection, and after holding the runner who was about to be basketed, he said, "The pigeons are thin enough", and my "thin pigeons" not only returned well but also won the overall second and third places.
These experiences have made me realize that when participating in races of about 300 km to 600 km, the pigeons can be adjusted to be slightly lighter and thinner, which is often referred to as "the master pigeon has no food".
Of course, the adjustment of the amount of bait should not be too extreme and sharp. My pigeons have to trek on tough races during the 1,000 km race, so it is difficult for the runners to persevere without a full chest, and I will let the pigeons eat and gain weight to store enough energy.
When the pigeons are managed using the separation method, the hens love to fly and are easy to adjust under the same conditions, and the cocks are tired of flying and prone to excess meat.
This phenomenon is also the basic point of our evaluation of the shortness and length of the male and female, and in this year's 1000 km race, the cocks in my loft were outstanding.
The hens fly for a long time, and if there is a phenomenon of refusing to take a bath, it is too much exercise, which is definitely not suitable for long-distance racing.
At this time, if you let it hold eggs to make the fat accumulate rapidly, after a few days of competition, it often flies out of unexpected good results.
In more than half a century of pigeon breeding, I have encountered all kinds of joys and disappointments, and on average I have experienced a major setback in five to ten years.
However, continuous observation and analysis have also led to a unique set of coping methods. In short, the most basic practice is to check the feathers, muscles, etc. of the pigeons frequently, and adjust the status of the pigeons at any time according to the specific conditions of the loft.
< h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > feed adjustments</h1>
I usually only use standard mixed feed and do not make major feed adjustments except for pigeon moulting season.
In addition to the mixed feed, I prepared only corn, hemp seeds and barley, and controlled 20% of the barley in the breeding pigeon feed and 10% of the runners' pigeons during moulting.
Moulting is very physically demanding, pigeons are prone to illness, at this time I will try to make the pigeons full and well fed.
I don't pay much attention to the 400 km young birds in autumn, so I don't deliberately adjust the amount of bait, just mix corn and hemp seeds when the pigeons are lean to increase the fat content in the feed.
The adjustment of the amount of bait should not be mechanically set as the number of grams of diet, but should take into account the status of the pigeons, the condition of the home flight, the environment of the loft and many other factors.
It is necessary to gradually grasp the characteristics of the pigeons in this house and clarify the adjustment goals through frequent hands-on inspection.
Although some pigeons are prone to fattening and some are prone to emaciation, there should be a general criterion in the consciousness of pigeon breeders, such as three days before the pigeons are collected, so that the pigeons as a whole should reach a certain physical condition and state.
My basic practice is to keep the pigeons lighter in the short and middle distances and to increase the muscle mass of the pigeons when racing long distances.
For the sake of nutritional ratios, I generally try to control the use of barley as much as possible, feeding properly and reducing the total amount of bait only within a few days after the runners return home.
Once it is judged that the pigeons have eliminated their fatigue, they return to the standard feed, and it is not appropriate to drastically change the amount and quality of the feed every race.
Steady adjustments may not allow the players to improve their status quickly, but I still avoid taking an extreme approach for the sake of the overall homecoming rate of the pigeons.
The fat storage in pigeons is mainly judged by looking at fat powder, but my pigeons usually have a lot of fat powder, which also shows that their home flight movement is quite good.
< h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > the achievement of the goal</h1>
In my loft there is a pigeon ,773 71KP0773, who won a first prize in the 200, 300, 500, 600 km and finished in the top five more than a dozen times.
In order to make it a new achievement, I tried the egg-hugging method for it, but it flew into a mess.
This example shows that the efficacy of the separation or natural system varies depending on the pigeon's system, performance and individual, and that hermaphroditism, paternal love, etc. does not increase the return rate of all pigeons.
Sever Toy, who has a seven-place pigeon from Barcelona, told me that before the race he only gave a small trick to this four-year-old of W-year-old, replacing his wife with a new wife.
In 1998, the team of players in my loft was so strong that we set the goal of winning the Crown Prize that year.
My main direction of attack was regional N and CH races, but since there were only 100 or 200 pigeons in the GN race, only the first and second prizes could increase the number of points, so I decided to put experienced old pigeons into the GN race.
As a result, I won three titles in the year, including the Crown Prize, the Best Loft Award in Japan, and the National Champion Award, and achieved my goal with excellence.
In conclusion after the race, I felt that the reasons for the success were the weather, luck, proper management and the placement of the pigeons.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > be observant</h1>
When Iwata Kochi was introduced again from Europe and the United States after World War II, we still remembered the lesson of using foreign blood pigeons before the war without success, so from the very beginning we set our goal as long-range pigeons that can fly 600 or 700 kilometers and have stable homing performance.
Judging from the later process of the formation and development of the Iwata system, the introduction policy of Takashi was correct at the beginning. We crossed with pigeons such as Opel, Arcadi, Sion, Stara and others and were lucky enough to get a gold pair of 777x619.
I have always attached great importance to the racing pigeons as well as the breeding pigeons bred in this loft. But in retrospect, the requirements for breeding pigeons were too demanding.
For example, "Yu Shi Wang", who won the 1000-kilometer race, but was not reused by me due to the lack of evidence of other achievements, and it was later discovered that it was related to other comprehensive champions.
Fortunately, there were many excellent overall champions in my loft during that period, and it was a great way to breed these pigeons and their peers.
The Lady contains the bloodline of four comprehensive champions and is also very active in her peers, so I am confident that I will use it as the main line to breed this pigeon.
In the process of intersecting success and failure, I have always pursued "performanceism" and firmly believe that this is the right breeding path. Whenever a breeding pigeon that you have identified as having an excellent offspring, you will be thrilled by it.
I have been raising pigeons since I was a child and have been passionate about it all my life, because I feel that I have the qualities and talents in this area.
Keen observation, although not represented in numbers, is of paramount importance to pigeon breeders, and if they do not gain insight through the pigeons, they will not be able to do anything about it, whether they are pigeons, lofts or pigeon owners.
Can you hear the difference in the sound of a pigeon entering the house and slamming the door? When a pigeon returns home, do you think of the performance of his peers? Can you feel the physical and mental condition and visceral function of a pigeon while holding it?
These subtle differences in understanding and perception will lead to differences in training methods. Therefore, there are great differences in the quality and performance of the pigeons bred by different fanciers who have brought in the Iwata line from me.
I am the same as the basic breeding pigeons of Kochi but the training methods are different, which also leads to the result that my brother is inferior to my younger brother in terms of racing results.
Pigeon racing has a unique charm for pigeon breeders, but in addition to our hobbies, we must also strive to improve our comprehensive ability to observe and think.
It is necessary to constantly sum up the experience and find and overcome the weaknesses of the pigeons according to the specific characteristics of the loft in order to make a difference in the highly competitive pigeon racing sport.

Congratulations on finishing another book.
Postscript: From the first article shared on August 13 to the completion of the promotion today for a full forty-one days, I have fulfilled my promise to everyone, and I would like to know what I have gained in these forty days.
What impressed me the most was that Iwata's pair was so ugly that no one looked at the gold pair. What is a good breeding pigeon? A good breeder doesn't have to look good, and it doesn't have to be a good breeder, but a good breeder must be from a good pedigree.
What is a good pedigree? Good pedigree does not refer to those household names, but to a family with excellent specific achievements and strong people.
Winning a good result with a champion is mostly just a good wish, and the pairing between two super breeders may not be able to achieve satisfactory results, the key is the combination. A combination of two pigeons 1+1 can be equal to three, and an undesirable pair can also be equal to a negative number.
Short distance fast pigeons can be paired with long distance pigeons, the key is that both are pigeons that can withstand inbreeding, and the combination of the two can show the advantage of hybridization, both are indispensable.
The above is my personal gain, and I hope that the Tibetan friends who are also following this will also write down your harvest in the message area.
