Asian Black Bear

On August 23, when the staff of Xinhua Forest Farm in Shennongjia Forest District, Hubei Province, went into the mountains to collect infrared camera monitoring data, they were surprised to find that the camera captured precious images of Asian black bears, iguanas, hairy-crowned deer, white-crowned long-tailed pheasants, red-bellied golden pheasants, and red-bellied horned pheasants. These vivid faces of "forest dwellers" captured by infrared cameras show people the wonderful world of Shennongjia "Natural Zoo".

The wild animal iguana that appears in the video is relishing the taste of fresh wild mushrooms, and it looks up alertly from time to time as it eats; the hairy deer in the other video looks less lucky, has not yet been able to eat, and is intently looking down to forage.

The protagonist of another video, a gorgeous-feathered creature with white top and neck, golden yellow chest and back, and black feathers, named the white-crowned long-tailed pheasant, was the first filmed in the forest farm. In the video, the white-crowned pheasant pecks at insects and grass seeds on the ground as it walks on a grassy field, sometimes chasing a female long-tailed pheasant.

Hu Quanhong, secretary of the party committee and director of Xinhua Forestry Farm, displayed more than 50 animal images taken in recent years, including golden snub-nosed monkeys, hairy-crowned deer, porcupines, iguanas, ocelots, and black bears. Judging from the images, these animals in the completely wild environment are natural, relaxed and leisurely, or hurried by, or looking up, or foraging freely, or childcare with mouths, some also in and out of the pair, some wandering back and forth, frequently "showing their faces" in front of the camera. Hu Quanhong said that in the past few years, Xinhua Forest Farm has continuously innovated the protection model, and has achieved remarkable results in resource management and protection by establishing a patrol management system, hiring farmers' ecological stewards, and forming a plant protection technical service team.
