Recently, I went to the Capital Theater to see the renyi performance of "Home". Sitting offstage, I focused on the progress of the plot and the fate of the characters, and followed the progress of the scene; when Juehui and Mingfeng exchanged heart songs at the lotus pond, I shed tears; when Juexin and Mei met and could not speak freely, each with hidden pain, I shed tears again. Because of the emotion of watching the play, I feel funny. The reason for this is that I read novels when I was young and knew their real situation and ending. Director Mr. Li Liuyi proposed to "establish a performance-centered form of dramatic existence", return to the track of realism, and provide a broad performance space for the actors to experience the psychology and ideological feelings of the characters, Juehui and Mingfeng, Juexin and Mei in different time and space "play", like positive and negative electricity colliding with sparks and "can", instantly touching the audience, making me cry. I want to give a standing ovation: this time the director's guiding ideology and performance effect are successful.
The novel "Home" is Barkin's landmark creation, 90 years after its publication and publication to today. In the novel series of new literature, "Home" was born in the 1930s and won many readers; 90 years later, the plays, movies, and audiences adapted from the novel were widely received. The vitality of classic works has been proven by time. Mr. Barkin values the reader the most, loves his readers, and he has said: The writer lives by his own works, by the readers, he lives in his own works, in his own artistic practice, not in the mouth of any chief. So, "Home" is alive, the writer is alive.
"Home" is an elegy for the feudal family. The author of "Home" lived in an environment similar to "Home", all 19 years. In this high mansion with stone lions at the gate, according to Ba Jin's recollection, there were forty or fifty servants alone. From an early age, Ba Jin liked to be close to their servants and sympathize with their fate. In the contrast between the rich and the poor, in the context of the era of accepting new ideas, writers yearn for and pursue freedom and equality. The novel writes that the Third Young Master Juehui does not sit in a palanquin, and his eldest brother says that his younger brother is a "humanitarian". Many of the plots of the novel are the experiences of the writer, who see discord and darkness from a large family of four generations. Grandpa's despotism determines the fate of everyone in the high mansion and maintains the order of the extended family. As the eldest son and eldest grandson, Juexin resigned himself to accept everything that his grandfather had arranged for him, including his marriage. Authoritarian oppression, in addition to their grandfathers, there were also feudal customs. Jue Xin and Mei could not be combined because of the eight characters; Rui Jue was driven out of the city to give birth because old lady Gao had to "avoid the blood light" after her death. These absurd, ancient and ugly customs cannot and dare not disobey. The drama is staring at the fate of the characters in progress, and I always feel that the whole play ignores a big era background, that is, outside the walls of the eerie high mansion, the social storm from Beijing and Shanghai has broken the calm in the mansion. Juehui, Juemin, and Qin, who began to read "New Youth" and "New Wave", edited and published newspapers and periodicals, organized associations, and had long become traitors to the big family. Without changes in the external world, there would be no enlightenment of the enlightened people and the qin. In the novel, they read Ibsen's Nala, yearning for coeducational schooling, putting their feet down and cutting their hair to welcome the arrival of a new society. The na xiao of Feng Leshan, president of the Chengdu Confucius Society, was a normal thing in the past, but in the eyes of Juehui after accepting the new culture, it was ugly and inhumane; moreover, what President Feng wanted to marry was the Mingfeng he liked! Mingfeng refused Old Lady Gao's arrangement, shenhu committed suicide, and Old Lady Gao gave another maid, Wan'er, to the president. In the High Mansion, maids are items that can be bought and sold or given away. The actor of the drama Wan'er trembled in front of feng Leshan, who was dignified, revealing a fearful speech and action, there were not many scenes, and the performance was wonderful.
The success of the novel "Home" is the result of the Impact of the May Fourth New Culture Movement on the ultra-stable Chinese tradition. Young people living in a similar extended family find their own situation from the fate of the novel's characters, and are encouraged by Juehui's bravery, fearlessness and exuberance, and resonate with the characters in the novel. I have seen that several university professors are not satisfied with "Home", believing that Barkin's novels are only loved by female middle school students, and the structure of the novels is too loose. This view is actually a description of some facts, and the readers of "Home" had many middle school students at that time. The bitterness of adolescence, suddenly there are characters in the novel, how can those children who also live in a big family not like it? Barkin had said that he didn't write novels because he wasn't a writer. He wrote novels, "I want to complain," and he was going to fight against feudal despotism. Readers were infected by reading his novels and wrote letters asking him to point out the path of life, and Barkin wrote many replies, comforting and persuading his loyal readers, treating his readers as friends and comrades in arms fighting against the old forces. A few years ago, a Shanxi writer bought a batch of letters from Ba Jin in the cultural relics market in Taiyuan, and then tracked down and looked for the recipient, which is proof of Ba Jin's contact with readers. The "Slush Collection" published by Mr. Yang Wei is also a correspondence that Ba Jin gave to this rich lady. How many readers has the novel "Home" touched and changed the fate of many people? There is no exact statistics, but when I read the book, I found that some of the old predecessors who ran to Yan'an to participate in the revolution said in their memoirs that they participated in the revolution by reading Ba Jin's "Home" and Snow's "Journey to the West". Reading novels can make people fluctuate emotionally, be uneasy about the status quo, act immediately, and choose their own life path, which is the social function of literature. How many copies can there be in the world?
Starring Sun Daolin, Huang Zongying, Zhang Ruifang, Wang Danfeng and other film artists, "Home" can deeply appreciate the situation and ideological feelings of the novel characters more deeply than young drama actors, because they have experienced that era and have personal experience. They really enter the role in the performance, and the charm that the writer has not written is also performed and overflowed. Before Deciding to die, Mingfeng, played by Wang Danfeng, took the basin and said to Juehui, "Let me serve you again." "It's really a cone of montage that makes the audience want to cry without tears.
It seems that there is also a TV series "Home", there are other types of drama rehearsals of "Home", but I have not seen it, I don't know how?
