From 1935 to 1936, the three main forces of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army successively entered Aba, spanned more than 5,000 miles, lasted 16 months, and crossed 8 snow-capped mountains above 4,000 meters above sea level. In order to support the Red Army in winning the victory of the War of Resistance in the North, the sons and daughters of Aba raised more than 25 million catties of grain and more than 200,000 heads of livestock for the Red Army, with a population of only more than 200,000 kilograms, less than 500 kilograms of grain per capita, and less than two heads of livestock per capita, and undertook the arduous task of feeding the main Red Army of 100,000.

This is the background of the red musical "Yak Revolution", which will be performed on the stage of Chengdu City Concert Hall on June 10 and 11. On the afternoon of June 5, the Yak Revolution held a press conference in Chengdu.

"Yak Revolution" takes the famous "Yak Revolution" that took place in Aba Prefecture during the Red Army's Long March into the Chuankang area as the main plot line, with the real historical events of grain requisition as the background, the Red Army as the smooth northward journey to the Soviet Area, and the local people, toastmasters, and religious figures in Songpan Meadow (now the Aba Yellow River Grassland) as the theme, through what the grain collection detachment saw, heard, and felt, and truly recounted the tragic and magnificent history of the Red Army's experience of climbing the snowy mountains and crossing the grasslands.

The main creative team mentioned at the press conference that the Aba area was the area with the largest number of Red Army passes through and the longest stay time during the Long March, and it is also the area with the most difficult natural environmental conditions and the most acute struggle within the party during the Long March, which has cast the great spirit of snowy mountains and grasslands. During the Yan'an period and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Mao Zedong repeatedly spoke highly of the revolutionary contributions of the Tibetan and Qiang Hui and Han people of all ethnic groups when the Red Army climbed snow-capped mountains and crossed meadows, and fondly praised it as a unique "yak revolution" in the history of the Chinese revolution.

The director of this drama is Liang Qun, a national first-class choreographer who served as the choreographer of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. He mentioned that it was a great honor to be the director of this repertoire, and since the official establishment of the project in July 2020, the creative team has re-embarked on the Long March and once again walked through the snowy mountains and meadows that the Red Army has walked. "We overcame the problem of only historical events and no story, solved the difficulties such as language barriers, and integrated politics, logic, storytelling, and artistry into one, and finally in two years, we created this original large-scale red musical with Chinese style and high standards that reflects the history of the Red Army's Long March, which can be said to have added a colorful stroke to the history of Chinese musical theater."

In particular, our stage design, lighting design, multimedia design and other design and creation teams of our play are composed of well-known professors and experts in China, which have achieved 5.1 surround sound and compatible stereo sound, which will make all the live audiences immersive. ”

Qian Qi, who is the composer of the play, told the cover news reporter that the music production of the red classic drama has always been a difficult point, not only to reflect the thickness of the classic, but also to attract the love of young people, the music of the play has also been boldly innovated, integrating symphonic, electronic, pop and other elements.

Costume design Shen Long shared an incredibly moving story, when considering the costumes of more than 50 actors who played Red Army soldiers, the creative team collected a lot of information, including film and television, photos and so on. "Whenever I looked for inspiration, I turned these materials over and over again, and each time I was touched by the spirit of the Red Army crossing the meadows and turning over the snowy mountains." In sharing, Shen Long almost choked up and said. In the end, none of the Red Army's costumes were repetitive, and the clothing styles and accessories were carefully designed according to different people, showing the intentions of the creative team from the details.

At the press conference, the actors also performed an excerpt of "The Call", which was full of emotion and touching.

"Yak Revolution" was created and launched by the Aba Prefecture National Song and Dance Troupe, and was successfully selected into the list of performances in Chengdu for the outstanding repertoire exhibition season of Sichuan Province celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
