After the founding of New China, he left the 39th Army to Wuhan to recuperate, and in August 1950, he became the commander of the air force of the Central and Southern Military Region, and only one month later, he was transferred to the commander of the air force of the Northeast Military Region and the commander of the air force of the volunteer army. On the Korean battlefield, he commanded the air force operations that had only been trained for a few months, and won one big victory after another.
In 1954, he was transferred to the deputy commander of the Air Force and went to the Military Academy for further study.
