In 2020 we reported on the famous American director J. Bad Robot, a film and television studio owned by J. Abrams, will open a games division.

The game studio is headed by former V-Club director Michael Booth, who has worked on the Road To Survival and Counter-Strike series and is the producer of the official robot AI in Counter-Strike. He has also held senior positions in Blizzard and Facebook's VR division.
Just today, the studio announced that it has completed a $40 million investment round, of which the largest investment is Galaxy Interactive, and other investment institutions include Tencent, Victoria Harbour Investment and ICONIQ Capital.
Those investments will continue to be used to expand the studio, which now claims to be making an "original AAA game" that will also be working with Bad Robot's film, television and animation divisions.
