In 1930, the pioneering work of modern Chinese opera "Wang Zhaojun" casting, director Xiao Mei is choosing the role of Wang Zhaojun, although Li Lilian has no acting experience, but still with the fame of a popular singer, coupled with her excellent singing skills, touched Xiao Mei, by her cross-border role of Wang Zhaojun.
As a result, this opera was a great success, sensationalized the national literary and artistic circles, and also allowed Li Lilian to successfully transform from a singer to an acting star.
The year after performing the opera, Li Lilian joined the Tianyi Film Company founded by the Shaw brothers, and successively starred in films such as "Husband with a Wife" and "Qiankun in Dreams", officially becoming a movie star.

In 1937, Li Lilian came to Yan'an as a progressive youth and a member of the rescue drama team and officially began her revolutionary career.
After coming to Yan'an, she quickly faded her star aura and devoted herself to the cause of music education in Yan'an, serving as a music teacher at Lu Xun Art College, and continued to engage in opera rehearsal in addition to teaching, becoming a household name in Yan'an.
It was at this time that Li Lilian and Li De met at a dance party.
At that time, Li De did not expect that Li Lilian would actually greet him in English, which made Li De feel very kind and immediately talked to her.
In the subsequent interaction, Li De was very interested in Li Lilian's beauty and experience, and began to pursue her continuously, only to be discovered by his wife Xiao Yuehua and divorce him.
