Following the election of Olympic champion and diver Wu Minxia as part-time deputy secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League in early May, another Olympic champion served in the Communist Youth League system.

According to the WeChat public account of the "Jiangxi Communist Youth League", the 16th Congress of the Communist Youth League of Jiangxi Province closed on May 12, and the 16th Committee of the Communist Youth League of Jiangxi Province was elected.

The first plenary meeting of the 16th Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League elected Ma Jian as the secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, Wu Fukang, Yang Zhi and Yi Jun as deputy secretaries of the Provincial Committee of the Youth League, Luo Hua as deputy secretaries of the Provincial Committee of the Youth League (suspended for two years), and Pan Jianwen, Zou Zhigang and Yang Wenjun as deputy secretaries of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League (part-time). Also elected as members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth League Committee were Fan Weicheng, Luo Zheng, Zheng Lu (female), Hu Jianfeng, Guo Lianfa, Huang Na (female), and Sheng Wei.

According to the resume released by the WeChat public account of the "Jiangxi Communist Youth League", Yang Wenjun, who was elected as the part-time deputy secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, is yang Wenjun, the Olympic champion and kayaker.

According to the public resume, Yang Wenjun, male, born in November 1983, is a member of the Communist Party of China, has a postgraduate degree on the job, a senior coach, and is currently the director of the Jiangxi Provincial Heavy Athletic Sports Management Center and deputy secretary of the party committee.

Yang Wenjun won the gold medal in the men's double rowing 500 meters at the 2004 Athens Olympics, the first Olympic gold medal won by a Chinese athlete in the canoeing event. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Yang Wenjun defended the men's 500m double rowing championship.

Since then, Yang Wenjun has successively served as the deputy director of the Jiangxi Provincial Water Sports Management Center, the director of the Jiangxi Provincial Sports Training Logistics Service Center (at the level of the department), and the director of the Jiangxi Provincial Sports Bureau's Logistics Service Center.

It is not uncommon for sports stars like Wu Minxia and Yang Wenjun to become part-time deputy secretaries of provincial youth league committees. Previously, Wei Qiuyue, Shen Xue, Zhou Suhong, and others, who were also Olympic champions, were also elected as part-time or suspended deputy secretaries of the Communist Youth League of Tianjin, Beijing and Zhejiang Provinces.
