In 1964, Su Min changed his career to directing, and then directed dramas or film and television works such as "Wang Zhaojun", "Li Bai", "Tiger Rune", "Proud Son of Heaven", "On the Street", "Red Locomotive", "Teacher, Teacher" and so on.

Su Min's wife, Pu Cunxin's mother, named Jia Quan, is 92 years old. Su Min and Jia Quan met in the 1940s. At that time, As a middle school student, Jia Quan performed dramas with his classmates every weekend. At that time, Su Min, who was called Pu Sixun, often came to give guidance to the students.
Under the recommendation of his brother, Su Min and Jia Quan began a free love. After marriage, the couple had a son Pu Cunxin and a daughter Pu Ye. The two old men have lived a lifetime of love, suffering and sharing, and are an example for young people to learn.
In September 2019, the drama "Deling and Cixi" starring famous actors Lu Yan and Pu Cunxin was performed in Beijing. After the performance, Lü Zhong, Liu Xiaoqing, Jiang Shan and several other famous actors who had played "Cixi" met with Lu Yan's "Lafayette".
