After The surrender of Japan in 1945, Chiang Kai-shek actively planned to block the mouth of the garden, plotted to return the Yellow River to its homeland, and acted as a 400,000-strong army, in a vain attempt to achieve the goal of "replacing the army with water" and dividing and flooding the liberated areas. Under the pressure of righteous public opinion, the Chiang Kai-shek clique agreed to negotiate with the Chinese Communists on the time, procedure, and related matters of the Yellow River's return. The first negotiations were held in Kaifeng on 7 April 1946, and after more than a year and many iterations, the Shanghai Agreement was finally reached in July 1947.
Kaifeng Umbrella Tower

Fanta
Originally known as Xingci Pagoda, because it was built in the Northern Song Dynasty royal temple Tianqing Temple, also known as Tianqing Temple Pagoda; and because it was built on top of Fantai, commonly known as Fan Pagoda. It is the first stupa built in Kaifeng and one of the oldest surviving buildings in Kaifeng, which is typical of the transition from a four-shaped stupa to an octagonal stupa. The only thing that remains of the pagoda is the three floors below the original tower, and the upper half of the tower is dismantled and shoveled, consisting of a basic layer, an outer wall, and a six-level small pagoda repaired in the Qing Dynasty. It was not until the early Qing Dynasty when the Guoxiang Temple was rebuilt, that a platform was built in the upper part of the three-story pagoda, and a seven-level solid small pagoda was built on the platform, so that the pagoda became the peculiar shape of the stack of small pagodas on the three-story pagoda, which has been preserved to this day.

Kaifeng Tower
