For those of us living in a foodie country, we open the mode of eating and drinking every New Year's Festival. However, if you accidentally eat too much, it can easily lead to stomach discomfort. Over time, stomach problems come to the door, and gastroesophageal reflux is one of them.
Think about it, do you usually have nausea, vomiting, hiccups, acid reflux, heartburn, stomach pain and other symptoms? If they all hit, you may have to be careful about gastroesophageal reflux.
Gastroesophageal reflux refers to a disease in which the contents of the stomach regurgitate into the esophagus, causing symptoms of discomfort.
Typical symptoms of the gastroesophagus are heartburn and reflux, in addition to epigastric discomfort, belching, foreign body sensation in the pharynx, difficulty swallowing, cough, hoarseness and other symptoms.
The high incidence of gastroesophageal reflux is the elderly, long-term smokers, obese people, pregnant women, infants and young children, people with long-term constipation, and people with poor eating habits, such as people who drink a lot of coffee, strong tea, or consume too much spicy and irritating foods.
Gastroesophageal reflux, damage not only the stomach, but also constantly stimulate the esophagus and throat, resulting in reflux esophagitis, laryngitis, etc., serious can also cause esophageal ulcers, causing gastroesophageal reflux disease, affecting normal life, and even laryngeal spasm may occur, causing life danger.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="13" > or precursor to cancer</h1>
In addition, long-term gastroesophageal reflux may also be a precursor to laryngeal cancer. A British study showed that with frequent heartburn, the risk of laryngeal cancer increased by almost 80%.
Mr. Nie is 53 years old and has a history of chronic pharyngitis for 20 years. Although I have quit smoking, my symptoms have not improved.
12 years ago, Mr. Nie's chronic pharyngitis worsened, he had symptoms of frequent acid reflux, and he has been treated with omeprazole. Over time, Mr. Nie felt that he had become dependent on drugs, and as long as he did not take the medicine, he began to regurgitate acid again.
In 2019, due to symptoms of throat discomfort, Mr. Nie went to the hospital for treatment, but was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. After surgery, Mr. Nie removed one side of the vocal cords, and later went to a specialist in gastroesophageal reflux for hiatal hernia surgery. When the laryngoscopy was performed 3 months after the operation, the results showed that Mr. Nie was recovering well.
So, why does gastroesophageal reflux cause laryngeal cancer?
It turns out that occasional heartburn caused by gastroesophageal reflux is not serious and usually does not require treatment. However, if it causes frequent heartburn, it will cause the esophagus to form a protective layer of cells, which will form an abnormal columnar epithelial overlay at the lower end of the esophagus, producing abnormal cells. These abnormal cells, which have the ability to resist stomach acid, are more likely to become cancerous.
In addition to laryngeal cancer, long-term gastroesophageal reflux may also cause recurrent inflammation of the mucosa of the esophagus, which in turn develops into a precancerous lesion of Barrett's esophagus of esophageal adenocarcinoma. The study found that people with Barrett's esophagus had a more than 40-fold higher risk of developing esophageal cancer than the average person.
All in all, long-term gastroesophageal reflux can cause repeated inflammation, and eventually, it will not only increase the risk of laryngeal cancer and esophageal cancer, but also may lead to cancers such as stomach cancer, cardia cancer, oral cancer, sinus cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer and lung adenocarcinoma.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="13" > prevention and control should start from the side</h1>
Therefore, once gastroesophageal reflux occurs, we must actively treat it so as not to worsen the condition. At present, the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux mainly includes drug therapy, surgical treatment and lifestyle adjustment. Among them, the adjustment of lifestyle should start from the following aspects:
Avoid these foods
Eat less spicy, irritating, indigestible, high-calorie, high-fat foods, drink less coffee and strong tea, eat less citrus fruits and tomatoes, chocolate, raw garlic and raw onions.
Improve eating habits
Do not overeat, keep each meal eight full, eat less and eat more meals; do not sit down or lie down immediately after meals, and move for 30 minutes; do not eat for 3 hours before bedtime.
Raise the pillows
Raise the foot of the bed at the head of the bed, at least 15 cm, so that the bed board is tilted 15° low at the head of the bed, instead of raising the pillow.
Adjust your mood
Keep a happy mood, have a positive and optimistic attitude, learn to vent bad emotions reasonably, and combine work and leisure.
In recent years, the incidence of gastroesophageal reflux has been on the rise. Although gastroesophageal reflux is not a serious disease, it is prone to recurrent recurrent work. Therefore, we must develop good eating habits to reduce the risk of gastroesophageal reflux. #Breeze Plan ##谣零零计划 #
