Arbutus - thick branches cuttings, re-cutting to create cloud piles, young red leaves are better than flowers!

Recently, when sorting out the data, I saw the pictures of the arbutus cut in June and July last year, and the practice at that time was to insert thick branches and bag inserts, cultivate cloudy pieces of small old piles, but the photos are a bit incomplete. Today I will briefly talk about my gameplay -

First, the tree species overview

Water bayberry, also known as fine-leaved water mass flower - small deciduous shrubs of the family Rubiaceae, is mainly distributed in the area south of the isothermal line of 0 °C in January (the southeast edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau crosses the Qinling Mountains to the Huai River line, which is also the 800 mm isoprecipitation line).

The water bayberry plant is vigorous and has strong wound healing ability. Sexually prefer warm and humid, sunny environment, more hardy, not tolerant of high temperature and drought, resistant to flooding, strong tillering of branches, dense new leaves after re-shearing, tender red.

Bayberry is suitable for planting loose, well-drained, slightly acidic sandy loam soils.

When gardening and cultivating, the method of sowing and cutting seedlings is mostly used.

Second, cultivation methods

1, breeding pile - for the water bayberry, I directly use thick branches to cut the pile in early summer. It is planned to be re-rooted when it is transplanted to the pot next spring. For details of the cuttings, please refer to my previous related graphics.

2, the pile - I appreciate the flowers of the arbutus, in comparison, I still think its young leaves are more ornamental! So, I plan to cultivate it into a cloud pile scene.

When taking care of the pile head, it is necessary to constantly prune and stimulate new shoots to quickly create a plump cloud.

When taking off the bag and putting on the pot, according to personal preferences, supplemented by landscaping measures such as root lifting and attaching stones, to improve the ornamental value of bonsai.

3, water and fertilizer management - before the cuttings sprout and extract, you only need to pay attention to maintain the appropriate temperature and humidity of the substrate, do not fertilize, wait for the new shoots to grow about 10 centimeters, and water the rotten cake fertilizer once in half a month.

What needs to be noted is that the water bayberry is afraid of drought, otherwise it is easy to cause long stops, fall leaves, and even die!

4, overwintering management - bayberry leaves, when the temperature drops to about 5 °C, the dry yellow falls off, the plant stops long and leaves fall, in a windless environment of not less than minus 10 °C, can safely overwinter. At this time, it is enough to keep the potting soil low in moisture. If you want to keep the potted plant evergreen, you need to do the corresponding thermal care work in winter.

In short, the purpose of my above practice is to enjoy the leaves of the arbutus for a long time, not its flowers. Only then did it have the relevant practices to match it. This point, remind friends to pay attention, if you have any good suggestions, welcome to communicate more.
