Lu Dongsheng was born in 1908 in a poor peasant family, and in order to be able to eat enough, he was sent by his parents to work in a large family. There was a young master in this family who was 5 years older than him, a patriotic and enthusiastic young man, who often told him some stories of ancient generals galloping on the battlefield, and in the process of doing so, he also became interested in being a soldier.
In 1916, Chen Geng decided to go outside and sneak away without his family. Lu Dongsheng's close friend left, which made him feel very disappointed, and soon he also left the Chen family and went to work in a factory in Xiangtan. Day-to-day mechanical work made him understand that if he was satisfied with the status quo, he would not be able to survive for the rest of his life. At this time, the revolutionary road pointed out by Chen Geng made his blood boil.
In 1925, Lu Dongsheng defected to the Xiang Army, which was later reorganized into the 8th Army of the National Revolutionary Army and began the Northern Expedition, when attacking Wuhan, Lu Dongsheng accidentally met Chen Geng, who was serving as a battalion commander in the 8th Army. Although they had not seen each other for many years, there was no estrangement between them, and Chen Geng told him a lot about national events and told him what communism was. Under the influence of Chen Geng, Lu Dongsheng also joined our party and began his military career.
After the gunshots of the Nanchang uprising broke out, Chen Geng served as a battalion commander in He Long's troops, and Lu Dongsheng also followed him to learn to fight. When the army reached Huichang, they encountered a fierce attack from the enemy, and Chen Geng led a group of people to break the rear, but unfortunately was hit by the enemy's bullets and suffered serious injuries to his left leg. Lu Dongsheng didn't say a word, and helped Chen Geng escape from the enemy's encirclement.
After that, they passed through Fujian, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong, and finally arrived in Shanghai after avoiding countless interrogations by the enemy. In Shanghai, they met Zhou Enlai, who instructed Lu Dongsheng to escort He Long and Zhou Yiqun to xiang'exi to open up a base area, and although he did not give up Chen Geng, he left in order to complete the party's tasks.
After they came to western Xiang'e, they soon created a base area and developed the Red Second Army. In 1932, Lu Dongsheng became the political commissar of the Independent Division. Later, in the fourth anti-encirclement and suppression battle, his troops and the main force lost contact, fortunately, he had a good leadership, the troops were not scattered, but more and more people, in more than a year, he led the troops to sometimes attack, sometimes block, when they met with the main force, it was already very rich in financial resources, material resources and manpower, these things also made He Long's urgent needs alleviated.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, in order to learn more military knowledge, he came to Yan'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University to study, and in 1939, he went to the Frunze Military Academy in the Soviet Union to study. Until 1945, he returned to China as commander of the Harbin garrison.
On the night of December 14, 1945, he had an urgent matter to do, he went out without wearing a Soviet uniform, and on the road he encountered a Soviet soldier robbing, Lu Dongsheng asked him in Russian which unit he was in, the Soviet soldier panicked, Lu Dongsheng did not embarrass him, turned around and left, the result was that this Soviet soldier was afraid of being exposed, he shot Lu Dongsheng, because he hit the head, Lu Dongsheng died on the spot.
The news of Lu Dongsheng's death was known to Stalin, who immediately had the Soviet soldier who shot him arrested, and the Soviet soldier learned of Lu Dongsheng's identity that he had run into a catastrophe, and he was later imprisoned.
If Lu Dongsheng had not died, by 55 years his seniority should have been a general. Because Xu Guangda of the Red Second Legion was awarded the title of general, and as the core figure of the Red Second Army, Lu Dongsheng was more qualified than Xu Guangda.
