Long-distance truck driving is often thought of as a man's job, but Rino Sasaki, a young female truck driver from Japan, challenged this stereotype and conquered social media in the process.
Rino Sasaki, the daughter of a long-distance truck driver, grew up in Kochi County, but it wasn't until 7 years ago when her father fell ill that she really thought about becoming herself. He continued to work, but she couldn't think of her father alone, who was thousands of miles from home, and there was no one to take care of him. So Rino, 21, was a traditional dance teacher at the time when he got his truck driver's license and decided to travel long distances with his father. She also tried to teach dance lessons, but soon learned that traveling thousands of miles across the country meant she didn't always get home on time, so she eventually gave up her former profession to become a full-time truck driver.

The drastic career change meant giving up what he loved to do, and Rino Sasaki said he didn't regret it. She began spending time with her father to make sure he was okay, and he was teaching her new things about truck driving every day. Becoming one of the few "girls" (female truck drivers) in Japan has also caused the young woman to attract a lot of attention online. With thousands of followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, Rino Sasaki is the most famous female truck driver in the Asian country and is often referred to as "Japan's most beautiful truck driver."
