Huang Qian, secretary of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Party Committee of CNNC, said that in 1991, at the foot of Qinshan Mountain, located in the corner of the southeast coastline of Jiaxing City, Chinese nuclear industry people began to "start a second venture." Qinshan Nuclear Power did not live up to the great trust of the party and the people, and always firmly believed that the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China was the fundamental guarantee for the safe and efficient development of nuclear power. Over the past 30 years, the vast number of cadres and employees of Qinshan Nuclear Power have kept in mind their original mission, carried forward the spirit of "two bombs and one satellite", and constantly "realized the dream" for the development of nuclear power in China: China's nuclear power started from here, from 300,000 kilowatts to 1 million kilowatts, writing an enterprising chapter of "glory of the country".

1. From the first degree to 640 billion degrees, it has made great contributions to the self-reliance and self-improvement of China's nuclear power

In early February 1970, Premier Zhou Enlai, after listening to a report from Shanghai Municipality on solving the problem of war readiness power supply, said: "In the long run, to solve the problem of electricity consumption in Shanghai and East China, we must rely on nuclear power. On February 8 of the same year, Shanghai studied and deployed the construction of nuclear power plants. China's first self-designed nuclear power plant was named the "728" project.

On March 20, 1985, with the original intention of "mastering technology, training the team, summing up experience, and laying the foundation for the development of nuclear power in China", the "728" project site was selected in Qinshan to start construction. The Chinese nuclear people began to write the history of the struggle of national nuclear power construction.

At 0:15 on December 15, 1991, Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant was successfully connected to the grid for power generation. At that moment, in the cheering and boiling of the main control room, Chinese mainland ended the history of no nuclear power and achieved a "breakthrough of zero". This is also a major breakthrough in China's peaceful use of nuclear energy, and China has become the seventh country in the world to design and build nuclear power plants on its own.

Just 15 days after the grid-connected power generation, China signed a contract with Pakistan to build two 300,000-kilowatt units of the same reactor type, realizing the export of nuclear power units to foreign countries. Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant is not only the pioneer and main force of China's nuclear power development, but also the forerunner of China's nuclear power "going out". On March 18, 2021, Hualong No. 1, a nuclear power brand with complete independent intellectual property rights in China, successfully connected to the grid for power generation.

In addition, the second and third phases of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Base project and the Fangjiashan nuclear power project have been completed successively. It has mastered the 100,000, 300,000, 600,000 and 1 million kilowatt-class nuclear power technologies, and ranked among the world's advanced nuclear power technologies. Qinshan Nuclear Power has ranked first in the world in the wano (World Nuclear Power Operators Association) comprehensive index from "zero breakthrough", becoming the epitome of China's nuclear power industry from scratch and from small to large, creating one miracle after another, and promoting China's progress from a "nuclear power" to a "nuclear power".

Shang Xianhe, deputy general manager of Qinshan Nuclear Power and one of the witnesses of the construction of China's first large-scale commercial nuclear power independent unit, said that from a faltering start to a thirty-year-old stand, Qinshan Nuclear Power not only created China's first commercial nuclear power brand with independent intellectual property rights, but also achieved a leap of independent development "from 300,000 kilowatts to 1 million kilowatts"; moreover, Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant has also laid a good foundation for China's nuclear power industry to master technology, train the team and sum up experience. Nowadays, the third generation of nuclear power "Hualong No. 1" has become a national business card and has gone to the world, it can be said that Qinshan is the self-reliance and self-reliance of China's nuclear power, from following to leading, and has made great contributions. The advantage of nuclear power is that there is no pollution, almost zero emissions, for China, which has greater environmental pressure, it is in line with the development direction of the energy industry and will help China achieve the goal of "carbon peak carbon neutrality". According to the data, as of February this year, Qinshan nuclear power has generated more than 640 billion kWh of electricity, and the energy saving and emission reduction benefits are equivalent to afforestation of 406 West Lake scenic spots.

2. From following to leading, to achieve the leap from "Made in China" to "Created in China"

The construction period of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant was in the early stage of reform and opening up, and the construction and training of nuclear power systems and systems were carried out for the first time. After more than three years of training at home and abroad, in 1991, 35 of the first batch of reactor operators of Qinshan Nuclear Power passed the examination and obtained licenses, becoming the first batch of nuclear power operators in Chinese mainland and the backbone of China's nuclear power development.

In 2004, Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant established the only national nuclear-specific vocational skills appraisal station in the field of nuclear power operation in China. In 2019, according to the requirements of national policies, the station undertook the identification of 6 nuclear unique vocational skill levels, such as nuclear reactor operation duty attendants, nuclear reactor control and protection maintenance workers, nuclear reactor nuclear grade mechanical equipment maintenance workers, radiation protection workers, radioactive waste disposal workers, and nuclear equipment nondestructive testing workers.

Focusing on the development goals, Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant accurately focuses on the actual needs of the construction of skilled personnel, has the courage to explore and accumulate experience, and has cultivated a batch of "big country craftsmen" of nuclear power construction with superb skills, exquisite skills, professional rigor, excellence and innovation.

China's nuclear power research and development started from the 300,000 kilowatts of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, and introduced nuclear power technologies from France, Canada, Russia and other countries, and absorbed and re-innovated on the basis of these technologies.

Xing Ji, chief designer of the "Hualong No. 1" of CNNC, said that the "Hualong No. 1" is the result of the Chinese nuclear industry's 60 years of insistence on independent innovation, has not wavered in the face of various difficulties and challenges, broken through one technical bottleneck after another, and finally formed the "Hualong No. 1", realizing the leap from "Made in China" to "Created in China".

3. From nuclear power generation to gamma knife "Chinese core", nuclear technology innovation to benefit the Chinese people

Since the beginning of the new century, Under the leadership of the party, Qinshan Nuclear Power has embarked on a new journey of "healthy China." After years of scientific and technological research, we have successfully mastered the production technology of medical cobalt-60, broken the situation that all medical cobalt-60s rely on imports, and realized the "Chinese core" equipped with gamma knives, bringing good news to cancer patients across the country.

Gamma knife equipment is mainly used in tumor treatment, with the advantages of precise positioning, non-traumatic, no anesthesia, no surgery and so on. The core component of the gamma knife is a high specific activity cobalt-60 radioactive source, which has long relied on imports, and due to the shortage of cobalt sources, it seriously restricts the development of related medical industries.

On April 1, 2019, the first medical cobalt target in China was successfully discharged from the Qinshan Nuclear Power Phase III Heavy Water Reactor Unit 1 after irradiation, marking that China successfully mastered the production technology of medical cobalt-60 radioactive source through independent research and development, realized the "Chinese core" equipped with gamma knife equipment, and provided a solid guarantee for the sustainable development of China's gamma knife industry.

At present, the heavy water reactor unit of Qinshan Nuclear Power is one of the few nuclear power units in the world that can produce cobalt-60. As the only cobalt-60 production site in China, Qinshan Nuclear Power has actively used nuclear technology applications to fight the epidemic. It is understood that in 2020, CNNC completed the irradiation sterilization of large quantities of disposable protective clothing using cobalt-60, and tens of thousands of disposable medical protective clothing arrived at the unloading to the completion of sterilization and ready for shipment, taking only 6 hours.

4. With patriotism as the core, spiritual strength is passed on from generation to generation

"This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 30th anniversary of the safe generation of power at the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant. The nuclear industry, under the leadership of the Party, has created one miracle after another. Huang Qian said that the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant has realized the comprehensive construction of 9 units from scratch and from small to large, and exported them to Pakistan, which has made contributions to promoting the "going out" of Nuclear Power in China and the construction of the "Hualong No. 1" of independent third-generation nuclear power technology. Over the past 30 years, Qinshan Nuclear Power has continuously enhanced its "four self-confidences" with its achievements in engineering construction and safe development, and has become a multi-category education base such as "National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base" and "Red Boat Party Sex Education Base".

Outstanding spiritual strength has been passed down from generation to generation among the Qinshan nuclear power planters, and a number of advanced models have emerged: Ouyang Yu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who participated in the construction of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, and Ye Qizhen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Tian Qinghong, a national labor model known as "living data and living system"; Yao Jianyuan, who was awarded the "Benchmark of the Central Enterprise Learning Red Flag Team"; He Shaohua, winner of the China Skills Award, who was known as the "Worker Academician"; Wang Haojun, a national technical expert...
