In 2007, Nobel Prize-winning American playwright Eugene O'Neill's classic tragedy "Desire Under the Elm Tree" was brought to the stage by Beijing Renyi and premiered at the Renyi Small Theater; 14 years later, the play became the opening performance of the new "Renyi Small Theater".

"Desire Under the Elm Tree" tells the story of a farm in New England in the United States in the middle of the 19th century, and the focus of the conflict is the control and struggle for the ownership of the farm, focusing on the confrontation between spirit and material and the distorted feelings caused by it.

The Beijing Renyi Beijing International Drama Center, which took more than two years to build, was officially put into use on the evening of September 2, with two professional drama theaters, of which the 700-seat Chinese Theater was named "CaoYu Theater" and the 200-seat small theater on the third floor followed the name of "Renyi Small Theater", which was once located on the south side of the Capital Theater.

"Using classics to create a theater and also using classics to cultivate actors is the intention of Beijing Renyi to choose the play to open the new 'Renyi Small Theater'." Ren Ming, one of the directors of "Desire Under the Elm Tree", said that the play revolves around the desire of human nature, fierce contradictions and conflicts, complex character relationships, and profound human nature, so that this work is full of stage impact from content to form.

It is reported that "Desire Under the Elm Tree" will be staged from September 24 to October 17.
