Synopsis:
A bustling metropolis with a hard-working and little-known rock band. As a band member, Tamura Nagayoshi (Ryuhei Matsuda) is from Tonoshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea in Hiroshima Prefecture, and he has been away from home for seven years. With a slim future and the recent news that his girlfriend Yuka Aizawa (Atsuko Maeda) is pregnant, the young man with the mohican head finally decides to stop the band and return to his long-lost home to get married. After a long journey, Yongji and Yuka finally set foot on the land of their hometown. His father, Osamu Tamura (Akira Akira Tsujimoto), is now the conductor of the local school symphony orchestra and is very stubborn. When the disobedient eldest son returns home, it is indispensable to break out a quarrel. Fortunately, after all the hardships, Yongji still survived the day of the wedding. At the height of the festivities, the old father suddenly fell ill... Inadvertently, everyone has to face life and death.
Too good at writing life details. Cold laughter, embarrassment, pause, really can create laughter through the language of the lens: when you see the father ask if it is cancer, the son nods and the daughter-in-law shakes his head after the long silence; seeing a pizza delivery electric car and the takeaway brother greeting on the boat, the embarrassment in the air makes people laugh uncontrollably.
There are also many ways to describe the characters' emotions: the father and the son who has just returned to their hometown beat each other, turn their heads and happily notify the neighbors that the son is back; when he is sick and wants to go home, the father sings happily on the way home; when the wish of life is satisfied (although it is false), the father cries with joy; the mother is more restrained, pretending to be unwilling to lose on the radio when she cries because of cancer; because the son is happy to hold his son and cry when he comes home again, pretending to be happy just because he won the ball.
For the restoration of the father-son relationship, it is carried out in a very natural way, and there are no big ups and downs. There is no need for a heated argument or serious openness to sensationalism. Angry at his son's lack of achievements in the city, he was happy to inform the neighbors. Unconsciously telling the students that he knew that his parents would eventually die, but on this day he did not know what to do, and the middle school students said that as long as they accompanied him, he looked a little lonely, so he turned back in the middle of the city. Dad's wishes are all trying to meet, it is too difficult to see an idol, and the original unwilling hairstyle is also difficult to change; if you want to eat the pizza in your memory, let a few pizzerias send it to the island; instead of carrying regrets, lying to achieve it is also a way, pretending to be an idol for you to see. Dad said you better go back to Tokyo, you are so good to me, I feel like A dying person. Father and son talked hardly, but they were trying to communicate, smoking on the rooftop together and sweeping graves together. Shuichi Okita's depiction of death is light, unsentimental, and even makes people want to laugh a little. Let the way of death become absurd, eliminate the fragments of crying and sensationalism, people will eventually die, and those who should be satisfied are satisfied, and the living do not have to have too heavy a burden.
After the death of the father, the son still returned to the city to work, although the lifestyle and location of the two generations were different, but retaining the care for the family was a kind of relationship maintenance.
