A small space on the side of Boyce's permanent exhibition hall on the second floor of the Hao Art Museum has a unique hole in the sky, a tent made of bamboo stands in the center of the triangular space, and a giant mask like a hammock is connected to the bamboo at one end and connected to the air of the exhibition hall at the other end.
"Little Nest" is another new performance art by Zhao Bandi. At a time when the world is deeply affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, as a leading figure in Chinese contemporary art, he feels that he has the responsibility and obligation to find an outlet for people in the name of art, which is also the origin of the work "Zhao Bandi's Little Nest".
On the day of the first exhibition, Zhao Bandi invited university girls in Shanghai to participate in the unveiling of the work, and he and the female students sat on the floor in the exhibition hall covered with bamboo leaves, chatting, dancing, singing, and celebrating their birthdays. Zhao Bandi intervened again with the most natural way of life, and he and the university girls were both participants and performers, as well as objects and mediums of artistic works. All the jokes are recorded, and the edited video will be looped through the exhibition in the months to come. At this moment, the boundary between art and life is blurred, and the audience becomes part of art, and in the work, they can temporarily let go of everything.

According to curator Du Xiyun, in the spring and summer of 2020, in various uncertain environments such as the global epidemic and the escalation of human contradictions and conflicts, Zhao Bandi was also blocked overseas for half a year, and did not return to his home in Beijing until the end of June. The various experiences under the epidemic stimulated Zhao Bandi's experience and concepts. In the ongoing project "Me and Boyce" project of Hao Art Museum, Zhao Bandi on the one hand has a dialogue with the famous performance artist through the works of Boyce in the collection, on the other hand, he has created a shelter for the human spirit in the form of "exhibition within exhibition" in the exhibition area, and forged a spiritual ark fleeing the epidemic.

Performance art is essentially a free and accidental life activity, and Zhao Bandi, who naturally likes to live an unrestrained life, has gained attention again in recent years with a series of performance art. From the oil paintings of the "classical period" to the cross-border of the "panda era", from the "Chinese party Chopin" in Chengdu to the picnic at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, from the "Ballet of the Donkey" in a Swiss town to the garden painting banquet at the foot of the Forbidden City, Zhao Bandi's artistic media is diverse and multi-meaning, and can always give people an associative force.

"The epidemic makes people lonely and helpless, longing for shelter", Zhao Bandi Xiaowo has a vague inspiration in his performance works. In an aesthetic way, he built a surreal swaddling, shelter, and confession room for the audience, in which people could heal and redeem their hearts. The audience is like a refugee in the "Great Flood", riding the noah's ark of the soul in the nest, temporarily escaping the world.

Is this aesthetic escape from the solution suitable for everyone? The exhibition will run until March 14, 2021. Zhao Bandi called out in the small nest: "Life is to enter the drama and go out of the drama, quickly get on the boat." ”
