Seinfeld is a famous erhu player in China, and few people have heard her sing on the stage. From March 12 to 14, the musical "Liu Tianhua" completed the first round of performances at the Tianqiao Theater, and Seinfeld not only showed her exquisite erhu skills, but also transformed into a "musical theater actor" for the first time, singing tributes to national art masters while performing.
The musical "Liu Tianhua" is produced by the Beijing Chinese Orchestra and the Research Center for Ethnic Music and Musical Theatre of Peking University, and is a 2019 annual funding project of the Beijing Culture and Art Fund. The musical tells the life story of liu tianhua, a national musician a hundred years ago, who was hired by the Institute of Music Transmission of Peking University in 1922 to develop Chinese music in the new cultural movement. Liu Tianhua devoted his life to the reform of Chinese music, taking into account Western music, and hoped that folk music would step onto the world stage. The experience of xian xinghai, Mei Lanfang and other artists and Liu Tianhua's interaction and mutual learning is also unfolded in the play.
A bright erhu sound opened the curtain on "Liu Tianhua", the musical unfolded in the form of a dialogue between time and space, and Seinfeld's figure appeared on the stage. Seinfeld is the third generation of Liu Tianhua, this time transformed into a musical actor, she sat on the high stage, echoing with the actors in front of the stage, and telling the stories of the previous generation of artists.
Seinfeld is still an erhu in his hand, and the musical series connects Liu Tianhua's representative works such as "Bright Line", "Good Night", "Sad Song" and so on.
After watching the performance, many viewers were surprised that Seinfeld not only played the piano well, but also sang so well. Li Changjun, head of the Beijing Chinese Orchestra, laughed and said: "Teacher Seinfeld is a person who has published albums, and is a 'singer who was delayed by Erhu'. Li Changjun said that if the Chinese Orchestra wants to make a musical, Liu Tianhua's story must be the best topic. "Liu Tianhua" combines ethnic instrumental music and repertoire performances, in which musicians not only play in the orchestra pit, but also take the stage with musical instruments and play roles while playing.
In Seinfeld's view, Liu Tianhua opened up a new path for national music a hundred years ago, and he is also one of the founders of the development of contemporary erhu art, and his ideal is to make Chinese music and world music go hand in hand. Song Fei said that today, one hundred years later, Liu Tianhua's music has become a classic of Chinese music, and inheriting his works and spirit has also become the responsibility of contemporary people.
