On October 9th, walking into the Wensu National Agricultural Science and Technology Park Science and Technology Innovation Center, I saw hundreds of thousands of plants with small plants, beautiful leaves, rich luster, golden veins, and networked plants growing happily.

After understanding, I learned that this plant is called goldenrod, which is a very valuable Chinese medicinal material and has been listed as an endangered medicinal plant. After 6 months of planting, its fresh product market price is 300 yuan - 500 yuan per kilogram, and the dry product market price is 4000 yuan - 8000 yuan per kilogram. However, how can the golden lotus, which has always liked yin and moisture, appear in Xinjiang, which is full of sunshine and little precipitation? Behind this, there is the painstaking efforts of a Jinhua science and technology person who aided Xinjiang.

Her name is Wu Mei, and she is a post-85 agricultural science and technology expert in Jinhua.

On August 30 this year, Wu Mei left Jinhua City to arrive in Wensu County as a science and technology commissioner, where she will begin a one-and-a-half-year aid to Xinjiang.

As an expert of Jinhua Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wu Mei has come to Wensu twice before, bringing 2 varieties and 5 new strains of 300,000 goldenrods from Jinhua to try seeds in Wensu National Agricultural Science and Technology Park, and has been successful.

Wu Mei said: "My task this time is to realize the cultivation of golden thread lotus under the forest in Xinjiang. Xinjiang has a large temperature difference between morning and evening, if the nasturtium can be planted here, it will greatly improve the active ingredients of the plant, the quality is much higher than the nasturtium produced in the plains, and the market price is relatively high. However, it is a bit difficult to find conditions suitable for large-scale wild cultivation of goldenrod in Xinjiang. ”

After a period of investigation and research, Wu Mei "took a fancy" to the large areas of walnut and apple forests in the local area. "The under-forest economy here is almost blank, and we want to use our strengths and avoid our weaknesses to try to plant under the forest of goldenrod." Wu Mei said that although she was facing physical discomfort caused by jet lag and water and soil dissatisfaction, from the time she arrived in Wensu, Wu Mei began to work in a race against time, carrying out training in the planting of goldenrod in the local area, improving the soil under the forest, controlling humidity, and making preliminary preparations for the planting after this.

A year and a half, long is not long, short is not short. For Wu Mei, this is also the first time after work that she has lived in a foreign country for such a long time. But fortunately, there are many Jinhua elements here, such as bergamot, camellia, and the golden thread lotus that she has poured a lot of effort into. "Sometimes when you look at them, you suddenly think of Jinhua, especially the nasturtium planted in the Jinhua base, and you will immediately call your colleagues in Jinhua to ask about the growth of the plants in the base." For Wu Mei, the existence of the golden thread lotus is also a connection with her hometown.

"Homesick?" "Not yet, maybe not long ago, still in the excitement period." That being said, the sentiment that "the moon is the hometown of Ming" in Wu Mei's WeChat circle of friends revealed her thoughts.

"In the past, I couldn't feel where home was good every day, but when I came out, I found that Jinhua is really a city with a high happiness index." Wu Mei said that she did not want to go home, while she also read About Lake Haitang Park, Wuzhou Park, Guzi City, missed Jinhua's various cuisines, and missed Jinhua's friends.

"Now that I have come to Wensu to work, this is my second hometown. I want to use this year and a half to pass on the technology and experience of planting nasturtiums here to the scientific and technological personnel and farmers here, hoping to help the transformation and upgrading of local agriculture and increase farmers' employment and income through planting nasturtiums. Wu Mei said.
