Recently, the academic forum "Wu Mei and Chinese Opera Culture in Modern Times" was held at Peking University, and more than 30 scholars from Universities and research institutions such as Peking University, National Taiwan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Nanjing University, and China Academy of Arts attended the forum.
With the theme of Wu Mei's research, the forum focused on Wu Mei and university education, the rediscovery of Wu Mei's historical materials, the study of Wu Mei's opera and the development trend of modern and contemporary opera. Miao Huaiming, author of "The Biography of Wu Mei", introduced that this forum is the third large-scale and meaningful academic seminar to commemorate Wu Mei after 1984 and 1994. In addition, the forum also included the Fourth Capital Opera Research Young Scholars Reading Club, with the theme of symbiosis and interaction between modern opera and modern social culture.
At the forum site, Zhu Zongming, Wu Mei's great-grandson, presented the "Peking University School Song" scale score written by Wu Mei, which he copied, to the Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture (Kunqu) Inheritance Base of the Ministry of Education, the organizer of the conference. This version of the "Peking University Song" was written by Wu Mei to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Peking University, and was sung at Peking University in the era of Cai Yuanpei.
