The Fifth Printing House of the Commercial Press is the only former site preserved in Shanghai of the Commercial Press, which has gone through 120 years of ups and downs. During the Japanese "1.28" bombing, the Commercial Press and the Oriental Library were destroyed by the bombing, but the Fifth Printing House survived the bombing, thus assuming important responsibilities in the resumption of business after the disaster. In the process of restoring the old site, the historical appearance of the former Fifth Printing House was reproduced, and the most precious memory of the Commercial Press was preserved.

On May 4, 1919, the fire in Zhao Jialou "ignited" the May Fourth Movement that shocked China and foreign countries, and Zhou Yutong, then a student of the Beijing Higher Normal School, was one of the "protagonists" present. After that, his belief in reforming the old education system became firmer, and after leaving the school, Zhou Yutong went to the Commercial Press to edit the "Education Magazine" and also edited Chinese textbooks. He spared no effort to educate young students in patriotism, hoping that the young generation would stand up and make contributions to the country and the nation.
