There are Kunlun Mountains and Himalayas in the southwest border area of China, which are blocked by natural barriers, and it is difficult for desert locusts to move in across high-altitude mountains.

Experts also believe that even if the desert locust moves into our country, we have the ability to deal with it. China has a history of controlling locusts for thousands of years, and the locust plague in china is mainly east Asian flying locust and Asian flying locust, which belong to different biological species and have very different living conditions, but the prevention and control methods are similar. After years of efforts, the incidence of locust plagues in China has been significantly reduced, and rich experience in locust control has been accumulated. At present, we have a sound monitoring system, a mature emergency response mechanism and a strong professional prevention and control team. Moreover, the reserves of anti-locust drugs and equipment are relatively sufficient, and even if the desert locusts move in, they can be prevented and controlled in a timely and effective manner.

Pan Wenbo said that although the probability of desert locusts migrating and invading China is very small, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will also firmly establish a sense of risk, closely monitor, strictly guard against death, actively assist foreign countries, and respond scientifically, so as to minimize the harm risk of desert locust invasion, so as to be foolproof and prepared.
