IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival announced: The Taiwanese film "Take Mom Out to Play" was awarded the best film

Pingtan, China News Service, October 26 (Reporter Lin Chunyin) On the evening of the 25th, the IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival announced 8 honors, and the National Taiwan University of the Arts became the biggest winner, with a total of 5 student works winning awards and winning the honor of best film.

Sui Shufen, a student at National Taiwan University of the Arts, won the honor of best film for her work "Take Your Mother Out to Play". The same works from The National Taiwan University of the Arts, Xu Qianshao's "February 14", Yuan Haitao's "Three Ants", Wang Shengen's "Empty Needle", and Chen Yiyuan's "Double Suite" also won excellent drama short films. In addition, Taipei University of the Arts Liu Chunyou's "Red" and Shih Hsin University Guo Guanling's "Swim Team" also won excellent drama short films.

The grand jury prize of this year's film festival was selected by Zhong Xinxuan's work "Molly" from the American Art Center School of Design. Zhao Zixuan of Beijing Film Academy won the honor of "Best Director" of this year's film festival with "In Love".

Sui Shufen's "Take Your Mother Out to Play" focuses on the family shock and human tempering behind the surge in dementia and long-term care problems in an aging society.

Sui Shufen is a native of Kaohsiung, has been a newspaper editor for 20 years, and has been admitted to the Film Research Institute of National Taiwan University of the Arts for more than half a hundred years. She likes to observe the people on the street, using the narrative of record and experiment to outline the subtleties of human nature.

Wang Xiaoshuai, chairman of the jury, said in his speech at the award ceremony that the criteria for judging good works by a jury composed of 15 senior industry figures on both sides of the strait do not consider whether it is Taiwan, the mainland or the United States, but only the quality of the film.

Some works by Taiwanese students studying at mainland universities were also shortlisted. For example, "Our Family", which won the best non-drama short film, director and Tsinghua University student Guo Wanrong was born in Taiwan.

The total honorary prize of the short film unit award of the main competition of the IM Cross-Strait Youth Film Festival reached 3.48 million yuan (RMB, the same below), a total of 30 films won awards, and there was also a "starting from Pingtan" competition unit, with a total of 80,000 yuan for the first, second and third prizes.
