2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Italian film master Federico Fellini, and 100 years of light and shadow, his works left on the screen are still talked about today. Now, Hunan fans and friends can feast their eyes!

Federico Fellini/Federico Fellini
Born on January 20, 1920 in Rimini, Italy, he is an Italian film director, screenwriter and producer. His works have won many honors such as the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and he himself has won a series of honors such as the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival. On October 30, 1993, Fellini died of illness, and Italy held a state funeral for him, and UNESCO specially cast the "Order of Federico Fellini".
With his unique film style and perspective on life, Fellini is unique in the Italian film industry and even the world film industry, with an insurmountable achievement peak of European art films since the 1960s, and is considered to be one of the most influential directors in the 20th century. "Fellini-style" films have become a benchmark for countless future generations of directors to imitate, but the strong personal color of their films is doomed to fallini's irreproducibility.
The Changsha Film Festival will kick off on December 4 with a total of 12 performances for 6 films, bringing a unique visual feast to Hunan film fans.

The Wanderer (1953) I Vitelloni
Fellini said: I left Rimini at the age of seventeen. That's something I don't really know about the kind of men on the street described in "The Wanderer," but I'll observe them. The original title literally means "precocious calves," and although they haven't been weaned, they're already causing trouble. "The Wanderer" was a key point in my life, and its unexpected success changed my future experience.

Fellini said: "The Great Road" is a film about people's loneliness and how loneliness disappears after the two are closely combined. La Dolce vita (1960).
Fellini said: People don't understand my intentions for the title La dolce vita. People give it more ironic imagination. I mean "the sweetness of life," not "the sweet life." When I'm asked what "The Sweetness of Life" is all about, I like to answer that the film is about Rome— an "Internal City" and "Eternal City." Through the two films "The Sweetness of Life" and "Eight and a Half Parts", I talked to my father inwardly.
Film Highlights: "La Dolce Vita" won the Palme d'Or at the 13th Cannes International Film Festival, in which Fellini began to explore the human spirit and spiritual world. Set in the city of Rome, the film connects 12 narrative passages from the perspective of journalist Marcello, as if admiring a mural in a film, which critics often call a "mosaic" film. The first collaboration between Marcelo Mastruani and Fellini. Anita Eckerberg and the dress never left the Eternal City after this film.
Eight and a Half (4K Restoration, 1963) 81/2
Fellini said: I made a decision on the production at that time, and the film contract was also signed. I'm at the Cinecittá studio, and everyone is ready, waiting for me to start shooting. But what they don't know is that the movie I was going to make has abandoned me. I'm going to let those people smash their jobs. They call me "magician", but where is my "magic"?
What do I do now? I asked myself. But I didn't hear my own answer. Across the sound of the fountain outside, I tried to listen to my inner words. Then I heard a subtle voice, a method. I know!
Film Highlights: "Eight and a Half" won two awards at the 36th Academy Awards: Best Foreign Language Film and Best Costume Design. Guido, the protagonist of the film, is a director who has run out of inspiration, and the film describes his experiences in preparing for the ninth film, interspersed with various images of memories, fantasies and reality, and the 11 dreams in the film have become classic paradigms repeatedly mentioned in the history of cinema.

Fellini said: For me, being the director of the movie "Joker" is a compensation for my inability to live the life of a clown. You'll never be able to see the face of the kid in Joker because it's hidden in my heart.
Film highlights: "Joker" shows the fun of watching the circus in a very long way, fellini has a special love for the circus and the clown since childhood, which also runs through Fellini's life's film. The Ship Continues (4K Restoration, 1983) E la nave va
Fellini said: "The ship continues to move forward" is a film that has a lot to do with the opera, and if it had been in the early days, I would not have made this kind of thing. It was only later that I gradually had the means to appreciate our Italian opera tradition. ...... In my life, I have naturally rebelled against what everyone likes, wants, or "should" do. The deck of the ship used in the film is set up in the fifth shed of The Film City, which is supported by a water-pressed crane and creates a real sense of shaking. Everyone but me was seasick. The reason is not that I have more experience on the boat, but that I am too focused on filming, so I don't feel the boat rocking.
What to watch in the film: a god work that makes people prick their ears from beginning to end.
