In this way, He Yi hid in the countryside of Jiangxi to produce and insisted on underground work; Mao Zeqin led his troops to fight in various parts of the south.

Soon, He Yi gave birth to a boy, and this child was He Lucheng. He Yi naturally very much hoped that her husband Mao Zeqin could see the newborn child, but at that time, Mao Zeqin was fighting everywhere, and there was no way to take care of his wife and children.
Not long after He Lucheng was born, Mao Zeqin unfortunately died. When the news came, He Yi was mournful and fell into pain for a long time...
At that time, Jiangxi was in the midst of a serious white terror, and He Yi's own situation was more dangerous.
In the face of the constant search and arrest of the enemy, He Yi had to secretly transfer again and again. In such an environment, He Yi naturally had no way to take the child.
At first, she wanted to send her child to her parents' house, but the "pro-communist" of the He family was known to everyone in the county, and even her parents could not stay at home and had to flee.
After that, He Lucheng was first sent to Nanchang, and after several turns, he was sent to the home of He Tiaoyuan in Huating Village, Yongxin County, where he grew up safely.
In those years of artillery fire, He Lucheng lived a stable life under the protection of He Tiaoyuan and in the simple mountain villages.

As a child, He Lucheng did not know who his father and mother were, only that He Tiaoyuan was his grandfather. He vaguely remembered that Grandpa would sometimes receive letters from other places, greeting the situation at home.

In those turbulent years, He Yi, with grief for her husband and miss for her son, ran around Nanchang, Guangzhou, Ji'an and other places for many years, and insisted on doing revolutionary work from birth to death.
In June 1940, He Yi was arrested in Shaoguan. When he was arrested, He Yi did not want to fall into the clutches of the enemy, and in a hurry, he chose to swallow gold and commit suicide.
As a result, instead of succeeding, he suffered a lot of pain, and he was tortured in prison and his body was greatly damaged. Fortunately, at that time, the two parties formed an anti-Japanese national united front, and Zhou Enlai came forward to take charge of the negotiations with the Kuomintang in person, and exchanged some Kuomintang prisoners of war for He Yi.
After being released from prison, He Yi came to Yan'an, where he underwent stomach surgery and removed the gold ring that he had previously committed suicide by swallowing gold.
Prior to surgery, the procedure must be signed by a relative, according to the relevant regulations. But at this time, He Yi's husband Mao Zeqin had been sacrificed for many years, her sister He Zizhen had also gone to the Soviet Union, and her brother He Minxue was not around...

According to He Lucheng's recollection, this surgical list full of family love has been treasured by He Yi for many years.
With the passage of time, the revolution finally ushered in the dawn of victory, and He Lucheng slowly grew into a teenager.
In August 1949, on the eve of the founding of New China, He Yi finally had the opportunity to return to her hometown, to the red land where the blood of her husband Mao Zeqin flowed.
Recalling the first meeting with his mother He Yi, even after decades have passed, He Lucheng still remembers it vividly.
At that time, He Lucheng was just 14 years old and was spending summer vacation at home. A woman with short hair in a fashionable Lenin costume appeared in the village.

The strong He Zizhen decided to turn her grief and anger into motivation to take care of the children left by her sister and raise them as her own children.
In 1950, Accompanied by He Tiaoyuan and his wife and nanny, He Lucheng came to Shanghai and came to the side of his aunt He Zizhen.
At that time, He Zizhen personally went to the railway station to pick up He Lucheng. After that, He Lucheng recalled:

After that, He Zizhen sent He Lucheng to a middle school in Shanghai. But just after the beginning of the school, He Lucheng experienced the power of Shanghai Middle School: the middle school here not only has a high level of teaching, but also has a very strict learning system.
This made He Lucheng, who grew up in the countryside, study very hard, plus he spoke a dialect of Jiangxi, which was regarded by his classmates as a "dirt bun". Whenever the teacher asked a question, He Lucheng spoke the dialect of Jiangxi, which would always cause the hall to laugh.
But He Lucheng always remembered the teachings of his aunt He Zizhen, became self-reliant, and worked hard to learn. Two years later, He Lucheng was admitted to the Department of Electric Power of Shanghai Jiao Tong University with excellent results.
