Ludian is located in the northern part of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, where the Niulan River runs through the border, where the Wumeng Mountains and the Wulianfeng Mountains meet.
Ludian's closed living environment began to change from the emergence of the "Five Feet Road".
The "Five Feet Road" was first built more than 2,200 years ago, opened by Li Bing, the Taishou of Shu County, using the method of burning rock, and was the only official road connecting the Central Plains and the Southwest region at that time. After that, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty continued to expand the road along the Five Foot Road, extending south to Qujing, Yunnan, and renaming the road "Nanyi Road".
In the sixth year of the Western Han Dynasty (135 BC), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty set up a county here, so there was Zhuti Mountain, which was named "Zhuti County". The word "Juti" means "beautiful" in the local dialect. During the Tang Tianbao period, Zhuti County belonged to the State of Nanzhao, and the "Wuman" tribe in its territory gradually became stronger, so it was also known as the "WumengBu". After the yongzheng period changed the land and returned to the stream, "Umeng Province" was changed to "Zhaotong Province". In the ninth year of Yongzheng (1731), the Ludian Hall was established under Zhaotong Province. "Ludian" is a transliteration of Yi and means "Pingba inhabited by the Yi people".
Juti silver shines brightly
Juti silver, named after the Juti Mountain. The vessel made of this silver material once made the Tang Dynasty writer Han Yue fall in love with it. The most important use of Jutiyin is to circulate as a national currency.
As early as the Western Han Dynasty, Zhu Tiyin has become the raw material for making official silver. According to the "Book of Han and Food Goods", during the Xinmang period, Zhu Tiyin's price reached about 1.5 times the price of other silver due to its good quality.
During the Tang Dynasty, silverware made of Juti silver was especially loved by the dignitaries.
After the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the main production area of Zhu Tiyin was in the Lema Factory. During the Qianlong and Jiaqing years, the silver mining and smelting industry here was very prosperous, with an annual output of 280,000 taels, which is the famous "Lema Factory Qianjia Dawang" in history.

This cloud plate made of metal alloy, on which the five characters of "Tujue Caishen Temple" are clearly visible. After careful examination, scholars found that this cloud plate was an instrument used by the landlord Caishen Temple to report things. It is exquisitely made and is an important evidence of the prosperity of the Lemachang silver mine in the Qing Dynasty.
Xiangxian cherishes his hometown and returns sangzi
In the sixth year of Guangxu (1880), Li Yaoting left his hometown of Ludian and came to Chongqing, where he entered the business name "Tianshunxiang" as a shareholder, and was soon appointed as the steward of the "Tianshunxiang" semicolon, Yuhao, and has since emerged in the Chongqing business community.
Li Yaoting has greatly promoted the development of China's southwest financial industry, making "Tianshunxiang" attract much attention, forming a confrontation with Shanxi ticket numbers, and also making Li Yaoting the "richest man in southwest China" with a world-shaking reputation.
In the eighteenth year of Guangxu (1892), Li Yaoting, the richest man in the southwest, returned to his hometown and prepared to wish his mother a happy birthday. At this time, he heard the news of the great famine in Ludian and decided to listen to his mother's suggestion and donate 1,000 taels of silver to his mother's birthday to the affected Ludian villagers.
However, due to the seriousness of the disaster and the wide range of the disaster, Li Yaoting deeply felt that his personal strength was limited, and he made a special trip to Sichuan and the surrounding areas to raise more than 10,000 taels of silver, which solved the urgent needs of countless disaster victims.
After that, Li Yaoting gave generous favors, repaid Sangzi, built bridges and paved roads in Ludian, and generously donated to the construction of his hometown. He also donated money to Sichuan, Yunnan and other places, and his charitable deeds spread throughout the southwest region and as far as Jiangsu and other places.
The ancient building has gone through a hundred years of ups and downs
During the Yongzheng period, in order to promote national unity, the Qing government moved a large number of immigrants to the Ludian area. Since then, the Ludian mining industry has flourished, merchants from all over the world have gathered, and the economy has developed rapidly.
The brothers Ma Lincan and Ma Lincan also came to Ludian in this wave of immigration. In order to promote ethnic integration, the Ma brothers actively donated funds to build the main building of this ancient temple, the main building - the main hall. Later, the locals built other outbuildings based on the style of the main hall, and finally formed what they look like today.
The ancient building did not use a single nail, and all the components were connected by tenons and interlocked, forming a more stable flexible frame as a whole, which made the building more elastic in the earthquake.
The architectural style of this ancient temple has typical southwest ethnic characteristics, but it actually has a typical Han courtyard layout at the same time. While fully demonstrating the philosophical idea of "the unity of heaven and man", it also tells the past of national integration.

On April 19, 2019, the Ludian Earthquake Memorial Hall, built to commemorate the 2014 "8.3" earthquake, was officially opened to the public. Outside the door of the memorial hall, there is a Yunnan Dianpu tree with lush foliage, this tree is still standing tall after a strong earthquake, and is called the "tree of life" by the Ludian people.

Today, Ludian has become the main production area of high-quality green peppercorns in China and an important distribution center for green peppercorns.
Nowadays, Ludian people not only grow peppercorns and sell peppercorns, but also develop upstream to the industry, extract fresh green peppercorn oil from peppercorns, and obtain the national invention patent authorization. They use fresh green pepper oil as raw materials to produce daily necessities such as shower gel, shampoo and soap, which are sold throughout the country.
At the same time, Ludian's walnuts, cherries, potatoes and other agricultural products are also competing in the market, jointly supporting the banner of economic reconstruction.
