In 2017, a bizarre case of intentional injury occurred in a remote small village in Shanghe County, Jinan, Shandong Province. The three brothers and sisters suspected that their parents were "haunted by little ghosts", and even used methods such as "drinking yellow charms", "smashing beer", and "crossing glass shards" to "exorcise ghosts" for their parents, resulting in their parents being beaten to death.
Suspecting parents of "ghost upper body"
In the first half of 2017, the 38-year-old son Wang Geng (pseudonym) saw that his mother Yang Mou's spirit was abnormal, so he discussed with his two younger sisters Wang Yi (pseudonym) and Wang Bing (pseudonym) to "see a doctor", and the three finally discussed that Yang mou had been haunted by "little ghosts" and should be "exorcised" in time. To this end, they began to find "godmothers" from the people to help rescue and treat.
From June 25 to 28 of the same year, the three brothers and sisters came to their parents' homes and, according to the instructions of the "godmother", forced Yang to drink the "yellow charm" (yellow paper ash) and avoided people for three days and other superstitious methods to treat his illness.
On the morning of June 29, Yang's condition did not improve, and the three brothers and sisters used liquor to rub their bodies and other methods to "exorcise ghosts". During this period, in order to control Yang's resistance, Wang Geng pressed his mouth and nose with his hands, which eventually caused Yang to suffocate.
Afterwards, the three brothers and sisters also believed that the "little ghost" was transferred to their father Wang Mou, and the three of them forcefully controlled it, successively smashing a large number of bottles of beer next to him, forcing him to eat raw peppers, pinching his neck, and using glass shards to cut crosses on his feet and abdomen to "exorcise ghosts", which eventually led to Wang's death due to foreign violence induced heart disease.
After the killing, call the police
During the trial, Zhang Mou (Wang Bing's husband) said that on the afternoon of June 25, 2017, he drove Wang Bing to Yang's home, when Wang Geng and Wang Yi were there, while Yang was sitting on the bed, talking gibberish for a while, and pinching himself for a while.
Everyone saw the situation and grabbed Yang mou to prevent him from moving. Not long after, Yang fell asleep; After a while, Yang Mou urinated incontinence again, and everyone discussed taking Yang Mou to "see". Afterwards, the three brothers and sisters of Wang Geng went to the next village to find a "godmother" and "opened" some yellow paper charms to come back.
That afternoon, Wang Bing called Zhang to go to her mother's house to pick her up, when Zhang found Wang Bing sitting at the gate, soaking wet, she explained to herself: "You know the two black fish that my brother caught two days ago, it is these two fish that are strange." ”
After investigation, at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the incident, Wang Geng had purchased 10 bags of beer and 5 lighters at the local wholesale department.
At 13:00 p.m., Wang Geng panicked and came to the neighbor's house, saying that he had "killed all his father and mother and asked the neighbor to help call the police." Afterwards, the police took Wang Geng, who was stranded at the scene in a daze, away; Two hours later, the police arrested Wang Yi and Wang Bing respectively.
The case is concluded with a final confession
The Jinan Intermediate People's Court held that defendant Wang Geng and three others used ignorant and tyrannical means to treat the victims because of feudal superstition, defendant Wang Geng caused the death of two people, defendants Wang Yi and Wang Bing caused the death of one person, and the acts of the three defendants all constituted the crime of intentional injury according to law.
The death of the three defendants in the victim's father is a joint crime; In the joint crime, although the seriousness of the acts of the three defendants was different, they cooperated with each other and actively committed the criminal acts, and it was not appropriate to distinguish between the master and the subordinate.
In view of the fact that defendant Wang Geng entrusted his neighbor to call the police after the case occurred, he stayed at the scene himself, and truthfully confessed the facts of the crime after returning to the case, constituting voluntary surrender; Defendants Wang Yi and Wang Bing truthfully confessed the above-mentioned criminal facts after their return to the case, had a good attitude toward admitting guilt, and had confessed the circumstances; The case occurred between family members, and the sincere repentance of the three defendants was forgiven by the relatives of the victims, and the three defendants could be given lighter punishments in accordance with law.
In the end, the Jinan Intermediate People's Court sentenced Wang Geng to 14 years in prison for intentional injury, and Wang Yi and Wang Bing to 10 years in prison each.
