Developers who tell everyone to "don't over-interpret"
Before becoming a "social media controller", Pan Shiyi's most important label was "well-known real estate developer".
Then he either ran or dried the house he "built", and then gradually stopped for a while. But today, the political knowledge circle (WeChat ID: wepolitics) really feels that the "old Pan" is back.
In fact, if you look at the old news in the past few years, you will find that in fact, Pan Shiyi has never been far away, he always faces rumors and criticisms, and strives to jump out of hot events.
Pan Shiyi's life history has several important nodes:

The "Pan Coin" event
After 6 years, I don't know if you remember the "Pan Coin" incident of that year?
At that time, this incident alarmed many international media such as FT and The Wall Street Journal.
According to the Southern Metropolis Daily reported at the time, on October 6, 2011, Beijing time, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died, and Pan joked on Weibo, "The 'Apple' board should make a decision immediately: mass production of iPhones and iPads below 1,000 yuan, so that more people can use 'Apple', which is the best memorial to Jobs."
The microblog quickly sparked controversy among netizens. Netizen "Tang Ruoding 9983" joked, "Pan Zong will also die one day, please ask your company to launch a 1000 square meter house, more than a billion people will commemorate you."
Subsequently, some netizens jokingly called Pan Shiyi "Pan Yiqian", and some people used the fourth set of one yuan as a template to make a paper note with Pan Shiyi's head "Yi Pan", and the name "Pan Coin" also came from this.
Pan Shiyi did not shy away from netizens' doubts. On October 14, SOHO China official micro released a video of more than 3 minutes of "Behind the ridicule of "Pan Coin" is dissatisfaction with high housing prices", Pan Shiyi said, "I am a loyal fan of Jobs. Behind everyone's ridicule of me is the dissatisfaction with the high price of commercial housing prices. Our company has hardly developed a home in all these years, but I have a hard time arguing. A few days later, Pan Shiyi did a micro-interview on Weibo and interacted with netizens on the "Pan Coin" incident.
Pan Shiyi's response, many netizens still affirm Pan Shiyi's response video, thinking that "Old Pan made himself an advertisement", and it was very successful. Until now, Lao Pan often used "Pan Coin" to interact and ridicule netizens.
Funding Harvard at Yale has sparked controversy
Everyone knows some of the personal experiences of Pan Shiyi and his wife Zhang Xin. Pan came out of rural Gansu, and Zhang Xin was once a Hong Kong female worker, both of whom embarked on the road to success through education.
In July and October 2014, the SOHO China Foundation donated $15 million to Harvard University and signed a $10 million "SOHO China Bursary" agreement with Yale University, which caused a lot of controversy. Some public welfare figures also said, "Does Pan Shiyi not know the current situation in China's poor mountainous areas?" "Many schools in remote mountainous areas and children in the mountains in China need this 100 million US dollars even more."
Many people have asked why domestic wealthy real estate developers study abroad instead of choosing Chinese universities. Some people even believe that Pan Shiyi will "buy tickets" for his son's future admission to Harvard as a donor.
As usual, Mr. Pan responded in a very timely manner, writing on Weibo that the grants were only for students from poor Chinese families at these schools.
At the 16th Peking University Guanghua New Year Forum in December of that year, Pan Shiyi publicly responded to why he donated to Harvard, saying that the starting point was to let China's best poor students receive a good education.
In a program, Pan Shiyi also responded that in fact, our funding targets are poor college students in China. As long as you get into this school, we will pay for you. The only criterion for our charitable donations is to benefit Chinese students.
Later, Pan Shiyi revealed that Harvard University arranged for them to meet with some Chinese students funded by the @SOHO China Foundation's bursaries. He said: Zhang Xin told soho China-sponsored students about her experience of studying abroad.
