Why does everyone say that there is a safari park next to the Expo?

During the first CIIE in 2018, xinhong street in Minhang District, the street closest to the expo venue, joined hands with relevant departments to release 8 black swans in the Beihengjing River next to the "four-leaf clover", adding a lot of fun to the Expo.

On August 23, the surging news (www.thepaper.cn) reporter learned from Minhang District that in the days when there was no Expo, these 8 black swans were wandering and recuperating in Huaxiang Greenland, and the current situation was very healthy. On the eve of the opening of the fourth CIIE, they with bright red beaks, slender necks, and satin-like black and gray feathers will be transferred to the Beihengjing River next to the clover to undertake the task of "dressing up the Expo".

Black swans add a lot of fun to the Expo.

"The water surface is wide, there is little human interference, and the ecological environment is good... Although the black swan requirements for the environment are more 'picky', but the north hengjing width of 60 meters, the water quality is three types of water, suitable for all kinds of animal breeding, survival, black swans come here is also very adaptable," said Xu Chunlin, director of the Xinhong Street Water Station, the water quality of the core area of the Xinhong water area meets the requirements of the "Surface Water Environmental Quality Standards" class III water quality requirements, Class III water quality is mainly suitable for centralized drinking water, surface water sources, can be used as a wintering and return channel for fish and shrimp, adapted to as an aquaculture area and other fishery waters.

In addition, the surrounding area is also rich in green plants, including ground cover, trees, submerged plants, floating water plants and water plants, etc., providing a habitat for water-loving water birds and other wild animals, a group of green-headed ducks combing feathers in the water, and flocks of large white geese playing among flowers and grasses, such a warm scene is now often staged in the North Hengjing River, attracting countless passing citizens to take photos and punch cards.

"The water quality is getting better and better, the biological chain is complete, and there is enough food such as various small insects, so that rare birds have an ideal habitat." Xu Chunlin believes that in today's Beihengjing, Huaxiang Greenland, Hanghua Park and other areas, in addition to the above 8 black swans that have been stocked, rare birds such as egrets and small ibises can also be seen everywhere in the river, and there are many uninvited guests coming, and the number is increasing year by year, which is very related to the water source environment where wild animals adapt to grow.

Some netizens said, "There is a wildlife park next to the Expo."

Not long ago, in the green space on the west side of Qixin Road on Tianshan West Road, an enthusiastic citizen found a green iguana with a broken tail. After receiving the notice, the staff of the Xinhong Street Urban Construction Center immediately went out, only to see it lying on a tree, about 1 meter long, with thorns on its back.

"It looks like a lizard, but it's very different from the usual lizards." The staff said that at present, the injured green iguana has been handed over to the Shanghai Zoo for further rescue to ensure its early recovery.

At the end of May this year, next to the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on Ninghong Road on Shenbin Road, bank employees also found an orange-red lizard.

In January this year, the Xinhong Street Urban Construction Center received a call from residents reporting that an "unidentified" wild animal had been found in the jurisdiction. After inspection, it was identified that this was a national second-class protected animal, the raccoon, and after simple treatment, it was transferred to the Shanghai Zoo.

In October 2020, a curly-feathered pelican flew to the Hongqiao business district, walked the street "with a big swing", and was sent to the Shanghai Zoo by the staff of the Xinhong Street Urban Construction Center to "settle down".

The relevant departments of Minhang District remind that if residents find wild animals in the Xinhong area, they can call 12345 to contact the government service convenience hotline and transfer to the Xinhong Street Urban Construction Center, and the staff will come to the rescue at the first time and send the small animals to the Shanghai Zoo and other professional institutions for proper placement.
