Once upon a time, there was a wild donkey.

Docile and intelligent, although born in the wild, he never harms nearby villagers or destroys their fields.

In order to repay the monk's life-saving grace, the wild donkey pulls the mill during the day and carries water at night, although it is hard, but three meals a day are guaranteed.

But as the days went on, the wild donkey began to be uneven, and because of its daily suffering, it began to miss the days when it was free outside.

One day, the opportunity finally came.

The monk asked the wild donkey to send something to the village, and along the way, all the villagers who saw the wild donkey worshiped it and hurriedly dodged it, which made the wild donkey who longed for freedom begin to flutter, completely forgetting to take the opportunity to escape.

Back at the temple, the wild donkey thought that he was noble and refused to work anymore, so the monk sighed and had to let the wild donkey leave.

So the wild donkey returned to the village with arrogance and pride, thinking that everyone would worship it as they had last time, but to its surprise, no one took it seriously.

The wild donkey did not know, so it howled in grievance, scared a few children and was driven out of the village by the villagers.

Thirsty and hungry, it had no choice but to return to the temple, and it asked the master why the villagers worshipped him the last time he entered the village, but then he was driven out.

The monk laughed and said, "What a stupid donkey!"

What people bow down to is the statue of the Buddha you have camel, and it has never been you. If you don't have a Buddha statue, you're just an ordinary donkey.

The wild donkey listened and returned to the backyard in shame to continue to work as a coolie.

When I first heard this story, people were always amused by the stupidity of the wild donkey, but if you think about it, many times, we also unconsciously become the "wild donkey" in the story:

Think you're capable, but once you leave the platform that supports you, it's likely that it's nothing.

The biggest stupidity of people is not that they have no ability, but that they mistakenly regard the support of the platform as their own ability, and they cannot see themselves clearly in the praise.

That's the greatest sorrow.

Don't think of the platform as your own capability.

I appreciate this sentence:

All people and things in the world are actually the same truth.
