2021 is a big year of aerospace, the success of "Tianwen Fire Exploration" has left a Chinese mark on Mars for the first time, "Tianwen-1" successfully landed, "Zhurong" cruised underground, triggering round after round of public attention and hot discussion. Can humans breathe freely on Mars? Can I drink clean water and eat fresh meat and vegetables? On October 15th, the Shanghai Planetarium (Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Branch) launched its first temporary exhibition, the situational original exhibition "Living on Mars", to reveal the mysteries of Mars and satisfy the audience's curiosity about life on Mars. The exhibition takes the future human life on Mars as the main line, organically combines science and art, and starts from clothing, food, housing and transportation, leading the public to experience life on Mars in an immersive way.
Pass through the Deepest Canyon of the Solar System, the "Sailor Valley", a geological "scar" about 4,000 kilometers long and 600 kilometers wide near the martian equator, and arrive at the "Martian Entry Point".
Come to the Mars Communication Station at the Utopian Plains Station and report peace to the Earth family first. Since Mars is up to 400 million kilometers away from Earth, even if it uses the speed of light electromagnetic waves to communicate, it takes 45 minutes to answer a question and answer. In the long gap waiting for your family to reply, you may wish to take a look at the future of Martian life.
There are also many places on Mars that refresh the three views of the Earthlings, such as sunset on Mars, which is actually blue? Yao Rui, exhibition planner of the Exhibition and Research and Development Center of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, said that there is a large amount of dust in the Martian atmosphere, which causes the red light with longer wavelengths in the sunlight to be scattered more, and the blue light with shorter wavelengths can be illuminated to the surface. Mars convenience store, is selling yellow powderworm dried and dried earthworms, the price of more than 100 yuan per kilogram is a bit expensive, but scientists believe that this should be the only meat food that Martians can eat in the future...
The exhibition consists of three parts: "Coordinates of Mars", "Mars Welcomes You" and "Tribute to Mars, Tribute to Spaceflight".
The first part, "Coordinates of Mars", starts from the contrast between Mars and Earth, and guides people to think about why they should explore Mars.
The second part, "Mars Welcomes You", through folding space, leads the audience from the earth to Mars, and experiences human clothing, food, shelter and travel on Mars in areas such as "Mars Flagship Store", "Mars Convenience Store", "Mars Farm", "Mars Base", "Mars Communication", "Mars Transportation Hub", etc., to watch the magnificent scene of Mars, to feel the development of aerospace science and technology and the natural features of Mars known to mankind.
The third part, "Tribute to Mars and Salute to Aerospace", carries the ancient spirit of "Sun Moon Anzhi Andi, Star Anchen", tells the difficulties and hardships of China's Mars exploration project, causes people to think about the great significance of deep space exploration, and looks forward to the vast journey of the future star sea.
The museum also specially supported two educational activities for the exhibition, where the audience can participate in the "Martian Architect", think about and deal with the problems of Martian life together, build an imaginative Mars base by themselves, and also participate in the "Zhu Rong Adventure" to use their imagination to design and produce their own future Mars rover.
The exhibition is located in the adjacent exhibition hall on the basement floor of the Shanghai Planetarium until March 2, 2022, and will be followed by a nationwide tour.
