Political Commissar Deng Zihui taught us the revolution to the end

Li Jianfeng, a veteran soldier of the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army

In the spring of 1945, everyone was still wearing cotton clothes, and in the square south of SunYuan (now Sunyuan Town, Sihong County, Suqian), listening to Commissar Deng Zihui give a report on the situation to the division's direct subordinate team, and our students from the Fourth Branch of the Kang University also participated.

Political Commissar Deng first analyzed the situation and said that fundamental changes had taken place in the entire international and domestic situation, that the Soviet Red Army had launched a great counteroffensive against German fascism, that Hitler's fascism was about to be eliminated, that the countries enslaved by him were about to gain independence and liberation; that the Japanese fascists had successively lost battles in various battlefields in China and the Pacific and were about to perish, that victory in the world people's anti-fascist war had become a foregone conclusion; that the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which Chinese the people, was on the eve of the great counteroffensive, and that all our work and struggles must be prepared for this.

After Political Commissar Deng explained the situation and requirements in various aspects, he especially stressed to the young students of our 3rd Anti-Japanese Brigade:

We must study and improve our thinking, strengthen our will, and carry out the revolution to the end. What is the end? It is to first defeat the Japanese devils, strive for the independence and liberation of the Chinese people, build a new China, practice socialism, and finally realize communism, so that the working proletarian people of the whole world can be liberated. The task is very big, the time is very long, that is, to struggle, not to be afraid of suffering, not afraid of death, to struggle for a lifetime; no matter what difficulties you encounter, do not waver, do not turn back, this is called firm, strong, I hope you study well, improve your skills, and work hard. This passage of Political Commissar Deng's words is a profound education and fervent hope for our young students. We should be educated to have firm ideals and convictions, to accept the tempering and test of the practice of struggle, to be unswerving, to carry out the revolution to the end, and to struggle all our lives.

Decades ago, remember? How's it going?

Although the memory is incomplete, the "revolution to the end" is firmly remembered, and I have accepted all kinds of tempering and tests, and I have struggled for decades without being afraid of difficulties and not wavering, and I have struggled for several decades; now that I have left my retirement, I have taken a leave of absence from my post, I have no rest in my obligations, and I will struggle in my lifetime, conscientiously "live to be old, learn from the old, transform into old, and dedicate myself to old age," strive all my life to realize the "end of the revolution," and never fail to live up to the earnest teachings and earnest hopes of the old chiefs and seniors.
