Ashikaga Yoshiaki, the last shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, in order to compete with Oda Nobunaga for power, mobilized nearly half of Japan's forces, such as Asakura, Asai, Honganji Temple, Takeda, and Maori, to besiege Oda Nobunaga. However, with the death of a famous general, Takeda Shingen, on the way to Ōshō, Oda Nobunaga took the initiative in the war, and Ashikaga Yoshiaki was in danger.

Nobunaga surrounds the net
Yi Zhao raised an army
Let's take a look at Yoshiaki's actions. Yoshiaki played a very important role in the formation of the anti-Nobunaga Alliance, and he was always looking for opportunities to raise troops.
What Yoshiaki was most looking forward to was Shingen's westward advance. So after hearing the news of the victory of the Three Sides, he was so excited that he finally raised the anti-flag in February of the following year. Nobunaga, who was suddenly in a desperate situation, hoped to make peace with Yi Zhao, but the other party did not pay any attention to it. From Kyoto to Omi, followers of Yoshiaki have sprung up.
On March 25, Nobunaga set out from Gifu to Go-Raku. Yoshiaki's retainers Hosokawa Fujitaka and Arakimura greeted him at Hirosaka and expressed their allegiance. The two have broken with Yi Zhao. On April 3, Nobunaga set fire to Yoshiaki to negotiate peace, but received no response. The next day, Nobunaga besieged Yoshiaki's imperial palace and set fire to Kami-kyo.
At this time, the emperor's envoy intervened, and the two immediately shook hands and made peace. However, Nobunaga saw that one day he would still be an enemy of Yoshiaki, so he ordered the people to build a large ship in Omi that could transport a large number of troops at once. Within two months, a large ship was built about 50 meters long, with hundreds of oars and arrow towers at the bow and stern.
On July 3, Yoshiaki hid in Makishima Castle, located in Nakashu, Ujigawa River, and closed the city. Nobunaga led his army across Lake Biwa in a large boat that had just been built, and quickly conquered the outskirts of Makishima Castle from all sides, and attacked the main castle by fire. Yi Zhao was powerless and could only surrender. Nobunaga ordered Yoshiaki to hand over his young son Yoshihiro as a hostage, and then ordered Haba Hideyoshi to send Yoshinori to Hanoi's Wakami Castle (Miyoshi Yoshiyoshi to defend the castle).
The Nobunaga Koji records that at that time people ridiculed Yoshiaki as a "poor public party". Later, Yoshiaki fled from Kii Kuni Yukira (present-day Yura, Wakayama Prefecture) to Bungo (present-day Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture). He did not lose his official position as a shogun, and has been known as a public government ever since, and continued to contact daimyo in various places in an attempt to overthrow Nobunaga. Under the protection of the Maori clan, he waited for the opportunity to go to Luo.
Ashikaga Yoshiaki, who had a deep heart, became the last shogun
Some people therefore spoke highly of Yoshiaki's position as a general. However, Yoshiaki's defeat meant that the Muromachi shogunate, which was the central government, was no longer in name only, and it can be said that the Muromachi shogunate was destroyed.
In order to revive the burned-out Kamiyoshi, Nobunaga, who returned to the capital, exempted the area from the land money and various kinds of servitudes, referring to the taxes levied on dry land, homesteads, and other lands under the manor system. Later, The Land Chante pointed to the rent levied by the townspeople in the city. Appointed Murai Sadakatsu as the acting official of the Shoji Dai (equivalent to the acting official of the head of the shogunate's main office[Shouji]), who took over the police power and rule of the capital; on July 28, he changed the yuan to Tenshō, realizing the change that Yoshiaki had been reluctant to implement.
These actions fully demonstrate Nobunaga's ambition to control the world.
Asakura and Asai perished
Soon, Nobunaga began preparing to attack Asai and Asakura. Yi Zhao's loss of power caused turmoil among the various forces in northern Jiangsu. When Nobunaga attacked, some of them immediately fell to him.
Although This time, Asakura Yoshikei also led a large army to come to the aid, but as soon as he was directly attacked by the Oda Army, he immediately retreated. Emperor Yoshikkei fled back to Ichijō Valley, then abandoned the city and retreated all the way to Ōno-gun. In the end, he was betrayed by his people asakura Jingjing and was forced to commit suicide on August 28. Yijing's mother, wife and concubine, and concubine Aiwang Maru were also executed after being arrested.
The centuries-old Sengoku Daimyo Asakura clan, which lasted for five generations, perished, and the castle town of Ichijo valley was reduced to ashes. Keiko took Yoshikei's head to Nobunaga, and many of his other subordinates surrendered, becoming Oda's vassals and surviving. Just a year ago, Mae Boji, who had defected to Nobunaga, was appointed "Guardian Dai" to rule the Echizen Kingdom.
Nobunaga immediately withdrew his army to Omi. Asai Nagamasa, who had lost asakura reinforcements, was isolated and could not hold on to the isolated castle. On the night of August 27, Hashiba Hideyoshi attacked Kyogoku-maru in Otari Castle, cutting off Asai Hisae and Asai Nagamasa, who was defeated. The next day, after a fierce battle, Nagamasa also committed suicide. At this point, the Asai clan, known as Shimo Kagami Noo, was also destroyed.
In September, Nobunaga wrote to Mori Keigen and other daimyōs that Shingen, Asakura Yoshiaki, and Yoshiaki were hostile to him because of the deep hatred shown by Asai's father and son. Nagamasa's concubine, Manfukumaru, was sentenced to death in Sekigahara. Nobunaga's sister, Aichi, who was married to Nagamasa, listened to Nagamasa's persuasion and took his three daughters out of the castle and defected to Nobunaga.
At this point, the anti-Nobunaga alliance disintegrated, and Nobunaga finally got rid of the biggest crisis. The heads of Asakura Yoshikei, Asai Hisaasa, and Asai Nagamasa were hung at the prison gates of Kyoto, later painted with raw lacquer and gold leaf, and decorated at a banquet between Nobunaga and Ma Huizhong (the guards on horseback who protected the generals around the general, equivalent to the Guards).
Skulls of Asai Nagamasa and three others
The territory of the Asai family was given to Hideyoshi Hashiba, who had made a meritorious conquest. In this way, Hideyoshi became the "Daimyō of the Nation" for the first time and built a castle in Nagahama on the shore of Lake Biwa.
