Nearly 5 million cuttlefish fry were "sown" in Yueqing Bay

Yesterday morning, in the waters near Taohua Island in Yueqing Bay, with nearly 5 million mans needleless squid fertilized eggs successively put into the sea, the repair of fishery resources in Yueqing City was officially launched.

At about 10 o'clock on the same day, the boat carrying the fertilized eggs of man's needleless squid sailed out of Nanyue Wharf and headed for the waters near Peach Blossom Island. After quality acceptance and quantity checking by fisheries experts, the staff placed bags of squid fertilized eggs shaped like small tadpoles into a special cage and fixed them with a layer of mesh. Subsequently, the staff sealed the entire cage and hung the sealed cage reinforcement on a foam buoy and dropped it into the sea.

"May and June is the incubation period of Man's needleless squid fertilized eggs, and we sink these squid eggs through ropes to the sea about 1.5 meters above the sea surface for incubation, and the small squid can be hatched in about a week." The staff told reporters that the scientific name of the squid fertilized eggs released this time is Man's needleless squid, which is often said by the public, and the total number of cuttlefish is more than 4.74 million. In order to prevent the squid eggs from being washed away by the sea, the staff specially fixed the buoy rope with an iron anchor when releasing, and fixed the cage containing the squid fertilized eggs to the buoy rope, and the top of the cage was laid with a net cover with an opening of up to 2 cm, and after the small squid hatched, it could swim out of the net cover.

It is understood that before the 1980s, the coastal area of Zhejiang was the main production area of Man's needleless squid, after which the resources of this species of squid declined due to environmental factors and overfishing. In recent years, our province has tried to release fertilized eggs of this species of squid in coastal sea areas such as Zhoushan and Wenzhou, and has been successful, and the number of needleless squid in Man's has increased gratifyingly.

"By adopting artificial breeding methods, on the one hand, we can restore the germplasm resources of local wild marine organisms, maintain ecological balance, improve the production capacity of fishery resources, and promote the sustainable development of fisheries." On the other hand, it can also play a role in publicizing the protection of marine resources and promoting the increase of fishermen's income. According to the relevant person in charge of the Fishery Administration and Fishing Port Supervision Station of the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, Yueqing City has released a total of 289 million fish (grains) of various aquatic biological fry since the work of increasing the stocking of aquatic biological resources, and the stocking offshore species include large yellow croaker, black seabream, Japanese shrimp, knife-fronted new shrimp, Man's needleless squid, mud cockles, clams, clams, clams and clams and nearly 20 species of fish, shrimp and shellfish. This year, in addition to the release of Man's needleless squid eggs, more than 10 million Japanese shrimp fry will be stocked to further enrich the fishery resources of Yueqing Bay.

After years of implementation, the fishery breeding and stocking project has achieved gratifying results, and the decline of fishery resources in the waters of Yueqing Bay has been curbed to a certain extent. At present, the natural resources of the mudflat shellfish in Yueqing Bay have been restored to a certain extent, the resources of large yellow croaker, black seabream, spotted bristle crab and other resources in the coastal waters have increased, and the needleless squid that has not been seen for many years has a sporadic catch, which has effectively promoted the restoration and revitalization of offshore fishery resources.

Next, the Yueqing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will work with relevant departments to increase the publicity of the fishing moratorium system in the volt season, severely crack down on violations of the fishing moratorium system, carry out normal management of these squid fertilized eggs that are released, severely punish the phenomenon of stealing seedlings and stealing fish, and let these breeding and stocking varieties truly benefit the general public.
