Talking about his experience as an idol trainee, Yu Huilin shared: Since I was a child, I have loved singing and dancing. After going to school, I spent more time singing and dancing in front of the mirror than I did studying, and I dreamed of becoming a member of the girl group. I heard that JYP was holding auditions in Hong Kong, she continued, so I decided to give it a try. I had to leave my friends and family behind and go alone (in Korea), but the reason I was able to do that was because I wanted to be a singer anyway.

However, Yu Huilin went on to admit that when I think back to my time as a trainee, not all the time is happy. I remember my first day as a trainee. It was Valentine's Day on February 14, 2007. I cried on the first day of training, she revealed. Because when I was in Hong Kong, [an ordinary student], I thought I was the prettiest, the best dancers. But on my first day in the practice room, everyone was much better than me, and they were all so beautiful.

Subsequently, she specifically mentioned TWICE's zhi effect, she recalled: TWICE's zhi effect was also at that time. Her eyes were much bigger than mine. I always thought my eyes (of all the people I know) were the biggest, but her eyes were bigger. She was so beautiful, so talented. So, I started to feel very insecure, and I felt like I was suddenly very small. My self-esteem really plummeted. I felt like a fish in a small pond, moved into a huge ocean.
