Chen Tianguo was born in 1912 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. But he is from Anhui.

In 1938, when 16-year-old Qin Yi first appeared in the first movie "Good Husband", Chen Tianguo was actually very popular.
And the two of them met when filming "Good Husband" and formed a fate.
Chen Tianguo began making films in 1935. He was 23 years old.
He first participated in films such as "Sea Burial" in Tianyi Company, and then entered Xinhua Film Company to shoot films such as "Little Orphan Girl", "Youth March", "Sable Cicada" and so on. His handsome appearance, thick voice, and passionate performance made him quickly become a movie star in the spotlight.
At that time, in the film circle of Shanghai Beach, he was very good friends with Jin Yan and Liu Qiong.

In 1938, Chen Tianguo came to Chongqing and joined the Chinese film studio. But she soon found out that something was wrong. Because before this, she didn't know about Chen Tianguo's problem of alcoholism.
According to Qin Yi, on the first day of their new marriage, Chen Tianguo was very drunk, or she dragged him back to the new house.

In November 1949, he joined the Shanghai Film Studio as an actor. At that time, because he had a certain position in the theater and film industry before, the actor level was still quite high.
But despite this, he has only made three films in the Shanghai Film Studio, playing Xiao Zhenkui in "Cuigang Red Flag", Li Yonghua, the director of the factory in "The Great Beginning", and the scout in "Tianluodi Net".
An actor without a play, he will somewhat complain, coupled with his upright personality, sometimes he will not choose words. But in special times, these complaints of his are likely to become a crime for him. In 1957, he was beaten into the "right wing", kicked out of the theater troupe of upper film actors, and assigned to the film crew to do field work, that is, to do miscellaneous moving props and so on.
For much of what happened afterwards, he appeared to have been under quarantine review. The rebels thought that he was a spy and checked his old accounts, but they could not find any evidence, so they punished him in the boiler room, carried out labor reform, and accepted the supervision of the masses.
In the eyes of many colleagues in the studio, Chen Tianguo, who does not drink alcohol, is actually a good old man with a kind heart. Once "knocked down" Zhang Ruifang was working on a dusty construction site, coughing and coughing breathlessly, many actors looked in the eyes, heartbroken, but did not dare to speak, nor did they dare to make a move, but only Chen Tianguo secretly stuffed two masks into Zhang Ruifang.
Later, Zhang Ruifang said: If Chen Tianguo's behavior was known to the rebels, in terms of his situation at that time, it would be a crime plus a first degree. But he did so anyway, and in times of crisis, he could embody a person's true nature.
So Zhang Ruifang said that at that time, her tears came down.
And Chen Tianguo's love for Qin Yi from beginning to end was also deep.
In 1967, he also met with Qin Yi and said: I am relieved to see that you are very good.
Then, within a few days, he hanged himself from a large tree at the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. He was only 55 years old.
