On the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the Party, the Central Radio and Television Corporation, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and the Central Cyberspace Administration jointly launched the "Red Seal - Sound Archive of 100 Revolutionary Cultural Relics", which was officially launched on March 22 at the Central Radio and Television Station, and was simultaneously launched on new media platforms such as CCTV News, CCTV News, and Yunting. 100 narrators, using the "most beautiful voice" to burn a century of memories.
Burning a century of memories with my voice, I am Zhao Baole, the narrator and actor of revolutionary cultural relics. The artifact I'm going to talk about is an old rattan chair with a big hole in the rattan net on the right side of the rattan chair. This ordinary rattan chair accompanied Comrade Jiao Yulu to the end of his life for more than four hundred days and nights. Today, it is displayed in the Comrade Yulu Memorial Hall of Lankao Jiao in Henan Province, as a treasure of the town hall for future generations to admire. Through this old rattan chair, people can see what a "good cadre of the people" is and understand what a "true communist" is.

In December 1962, Jiao Yulu alone took a letter of introduction to Lankao County, which is located on the Old Road of the Yellow River in eastern Henan. At that time, the Land of Lankao, which was unfolding before him, was a scene of severe famine.

The two yellow river trails that run through the whole territory are yellow sand that cannot be seen at a glance; in the waterlogged nests, there is blue ice; and on the white saline and alkali land, the dry grass trembles in the cold wind.

Due to overwork and illness, Jiao Yulu's health was not good, and when he went to Lankao to work, the "physical health status" column on the cadre's resume read "There is hepatitis and stomach disease." In order to help the people of Lankao get rid of the "three pests" of waterlogging, wind and sand, and salinity as soon as possible, Jiao Yulu always dragged his sick body and worked hard day and night.
During the day, he checked the wind and rain, explored the water, and went deep into the front line; at night, he would often return to the office, sit on a wicker chair and "go through the movie" in his head, summarizing the day's work. Traveling more than 5,000 miles, Jiao Yulu insisted on numbering and mapping the specific distribution of the "three pests" in the county.

Today, at the Comrade Jiao Yulu Memorial Hall in Lankao County, Deputy Director Dong Yana and her colleagues always went over and over again to visit and study the cadres and masses, telling the story of Jiao Yulu's visit to the villages and households looking for a cure for sand control.
In that year, through many field investigations and experiments, Jiao Yulu decided to lead the people of the county to turn over the glue mud and press the sand dunes, and plant an ecological shelter forest with paulownia as the main tree species in the county. However, the heavy workload, combined with malnutrition, made his liver disease worse by the day. When the pain was unbearable, he casually used a brush and other hard things to hold it until the rattan chair was pushed out of the big hole.

It was on this chair that Jiao Yulu drew a map of the distribution of salt and alkali in Lankao County; it was also on this chair that he issued the Zhengzheng oath of "fighting hard for three or five years, changing the face of Lankao, not achieving the goal, and not being blinded by death"; or on this chair, he wrote the article "The People of Lankao Are More Than Qizhi, Dare to Teach the Sun and The Moon for a New Heaven" with a trembling pen. However, as soon as the article began, the disease forced him to put down the pen in his hand. In the spring of 1964, Jiao Yulu fainted during a trip to the countryside, and by the time he was sent to the hospital for examination, he was already in advanced stages of liver cancer. During his hospital stay, he remained worried about flooding in Lankao, paulownia and harvest in the fields.

On May 14, 1964, Jiao Yulu completed the short 42 years of his life. Before his death, he made his only request to the organization, hoping that after his death, he would be buried in the sand dunes of the Yellow River Road in Lankao.
In the year jiao yulu died of illness, his daughter Jiao Shouyun was only 11 years old. When she grew up, she gradually understood her father's feelings.
Jiao Shouyun: In this life, my father has been a person who talks about feelings and responsibility. At the most difficult and bitter time in Lankao, he said that as long as I was on this day, Lankao could not starve people to death, and if there was a problem, I could punish me and take off my official hat, and I could not make the people of Lankao suffer.

Today's "three pests" have long been subjugated by the people of Lankao, the yellow sand has become a fertile field, and the sand dunes planted with paulownia have become orchards of spring and autumn.

Jiao Yulu worked in Lankao for 475 days, but in the 57 years since his departure, people have remembered him. On the occasion of the Qingming Festival and Jiao Yulu's death, many Lankao people would come to Jiao Yulu Cemetery to tell Jiao Yulu about the new changes in Lankao. The old rattan chair he sat on also stood quietly in the memorial hall, becoming the best testimony of his bowing to the people.
Comrade Jiao Yulu, you have not failed to live up to the hopes of the Party, and you have done an outstanding job in fulfilling the tasks entrusted to you by the Party... You are not dead, you will live forever in the hearts of millions of people!

Whenever I tell the visitors about Comrade Jiao Yulu's old rattan chair, I can always think of how he endured the pain of illness and worked at that time, and what force supported him to survive the days and nights of those painful and tormenting diseases. In the explanation over and over again, I found the answer, which is the faith of the communists and the original intention of serving the people. In my future work, I will tell more people about Secretary Jiao's faith and original intention. Secretary Jiao will always live in our hearts.
