The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Swimming Competition entered its final day on Sunday (Tokyo time) as the U.S. team won three championships in five swimming events held in the morning, while the Australian team won two other gold medals.
Drexel won the gold medal in the men's 50m freestyle
American trapeze artist Caeleb Dressel won gold in the men's 50m freestyle, his third individual gold medal at the Olympics.
Drexel won the title with a time of 21.07 seconds and set an Olympic record in the 50-meter freestyle. It was followed by France's Florent Manodu with a time of 21.55 seconds and Brazil's Bruno Vlatus for bronze.
Fink won gold in the men's 1500m freestyle
U.S. Swimming's Bobby Finke won the men's 1,500m freestyle on Sunday, his second Tokyo Olympic gold medal since winning the men's 800m freestyle earlier.
Fink's victory meant the Americans won the highest prize in all four long-distance swimming competitions at the Tokyo Olympics. U.S. Team Katie Ledecky won gold in the women's 800m and 1500m freestyles.
The U.S. team broke the world record to win the gold medal in the men's 4x100m medley at the Tokyo Olympics
American swimmers Ryan Murphy (backstroke), Michael Andrew (breaststroke), Caleb Drexel (butterfly) and Zach Apple (freestyle) won the men's 4x100m medley relay and set a world record for the event, ending the 2020 Tokyo Olympics swimming competition.
The United States finished the race with a time of 3:26.78, 0.73 seconds ahead of the second-place British team, and Italy won the bronze medal with a time of 3 minutes 29.17 seconds.
The Americans have won the race in all 15 Olympic Games in which they have participated.
The victory brought the butterfly swimmer Caleb Drexel to his fifth gold medal at the Olympics.
Drexel won gold in the 100m freestyle and 100 butterfly earlier this week, and also in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay. That means he, along with Michael Phelps, Mark Spitz and Matt Biondi, is the only American swimmer to have won at least five gold medals at a single Olympics.
