Wei Xueman: I call this season the Plus version, not only the choreography, lighting, and mirror movement methods have been upgraded, but our music and arrangements have also been more breakthrough and bolder than before, reflecting a richer level. In addition, our guests are getting younger and younger, and the fields they come from are richer and broader. For example, singers like Xiao Ah Qi, who are very popular on short video platforms such as Douyin and YY Live, come to the show as guests of the choir.
Due to the different debut platforms, their texture as singers and their musical expression are different. These "differences" are very important, they will bring fresh feelings to the audience, and they can also allow me to know and appreciate them more directly. Yangcheng Evening News: Many singers from short video platforms will be questioned that "singing skills need to be tested", as a guest of honor, do you have this feeling?
Wei Xueman: I don't brush vibrato every day, because I am an "old-school" person. But I don't think any group needs to be particularly improved, but I think everyone should have a sense of self-improvement. As a professional singer who has been in the industry for 20 years, I am still improving myself every day.
Yangcheng Evening News: After singing a song "Rolling Red Dust" on stage in the first season, you have been sitting on the stage as a guest of honor, responsible for commenting and sharing stories, will you often have the impulse to itch and want to sing on stage?
Wei Xueman: Yes, really! Some of the seniors I admire very much, such as Luo Dayou, when they come to the show, I will immediately find an opportunity to take photos with them. When they interact with the audience or have a cappella session, I often take the initiative to help them harmonize, and I feel very happy at this time!
Yangcheng Evening News: Is it the initiative to fight with the director group for singing "Honghu Lake Water Waves" on stage again this time?
Wei Xueman: Yes! I often looked into the director's eyes and said affectionately, "I've been offstage as a guest for a long time." I'm a singer, I'm a musical actor, you let me sing! ", I've been applying like this, and this season they finally arranged for me to sing again, haha (laughs).
Yangcheng Evening News: So, what will be the style of Wei Xueman's version of "Honghu Lake Water Waves"?
Wei Xueman: The songs presented in "Flowing Songs" are "classics within classics". The music creators of that era, their hearts and works were one, and the energy of the works they wrote was also very different, so they could sing for so long. The song "Honghu Lake Waves" is also the same. This made me a little nervous, a little unable to let go of my hands and feet, and I was afraid that I would not change it well. Later, the arranger enlightened me, "I write in awe, you can just sing in awe." I will interpret this folk song in a popular way, in a way that is closer to telling. I hope that when I sing, the audience can feel the "water waves", "wind", "moon", "sun"... If the listener can feel this in my voice, it is a successful expression.
Talking about career, "I'd rather be 'slow' and enjoy 'slow'"
In 1998, Wei Xueman debuted as a singer and successively published masterpieces such as "Find Yourself", "Understand Love", "Woman Fragrance", "Angel's Spell" and so on. Wei Xueman: I am also very sorry, I believe that many musicians are very sorry. How did this regret come about? I guess it's because our hearts are in too much of a hurry? We are too hurried, too afraid, we are afraid of being overwhelmed, afraid of not being seen, so we have been marching in the same posture - with a lot of force to rush forward, but unfortunately, this momentum is not the kind of grounded, grounded, determined, unhurried force. If the creator has been in such a state for a long time, the work is certainly not ideal.
Yangcheng Evening News: Do you enjoy "slowing down", in a circle where everyone is running, will the rhythm of others not affect you?
Wei Xueman: As a vocal music teacher, most of my students are singers, they are all "fast", and they are also under great pressure. I think it is precisely because of my "slowness" that I can give them some energy, so that they can replenish and absorb the energy, and then go out to deal with the "fast".
Yangcheng Evening News: vocal instructor, sound healer, musical theater actor... You have a lot of professional identities, how do you define yourself?
Wei Xueman: People who don't know me ask me, "What do you do?", I will tell him", "I am a sound worker", I have touched a lot of fields, but they are all related to music, to sound.
As I grew up, many great mentors made me realize that sound is a wonderful thing with great energy. I thought, although I am a small me, if I can study the mystery of sound more carefully, and then use it to help some people I can help, not only singers who need further education, but also people with disabilities, people with emotional disabilities, left-behind children... Isn't that great?
Yangcheng Evening News: Not only is your career field wide, but your life is also very rich. Are you a very planned or purposeful person?
Wei Xueman: I can almost say that I am a person without a purpose. I also allowed myself to become less and less planned, and in a state of "no plan", more and more open to myself. When you are truly "open" to the world, then everything that happens becomes planned.
Specific to the professional level, whether it meets the general sense of the "success" standard is not so important to me, I feel satisfied.
Talking about life, "Raising children is the hardest thing"

Wei Xueman: Yes. I think that women's inner growth can affect society as a whole, because most women become mothers and thus affect their children. As a woman, I pay extra attention to the female role models who are full of strength and wisdom, and I will learn from them.
Yangcheng Evening News: Do you often think about the hot issues surrounding women, such as age anxiety and appearance anxiety?
Wei Xueman: Absolutely. In my opinion, this is an era of "agelessness", and we need to maintain inner youth, maintain a fresh perspective and keen perception of the outside world, rather than fearing the aging of the flesh, the change of appearance and the growth of age.
I am the mother of a 5-year-old girl and raising her is really the hardest thing I have ever encountered in my life, and I am afraid of raising her badly. That's why we launched the One Mother non-profit organization. This program specifically supports mothers who raise their children alone, whether they are unmarried, divorced or remarried.
Yangcheng Evening News: What is the model of your relationship with your daughter?
Wei Xueman: My relationship with my child belongs to the double heaven of ice and fire, and for a while I am a very good mother and strive to be her best friend. After a while I was a stern mom who said "no, it can't be done this way." When we become mothers, we will have natural strength and there will also be natural anxieties, and I feel that I am not so stable, but I am trying to adjust and hope to become a more stable mother.
Yangcheng Evening News: If everything can be as you wish, what will the perfect day look like in your mind?
Wei Xueman: I have thought about this question carefully. I've found that the "perfect day" isn't about where I am, what I'm doing, who I'm with, but what I feel in my heart—perfect if I can feel content, keep a good mood, and keep my rhythm in mind.
