"Uncle Li and Aunt Li, we're ready to go." At 6:30 a.m. yesterday morning, at the west gate of the Yulongwan Garden Community in Hanxi Community, Zhuxi Street, Hanjiang District, Yangzhou City, Wu Guozhang, a volunteer party member of the "post-90s generation," wore protective clothing, masks, and protective face shields, and rode an electric tricycle with Mr. and Mrs. Li and his wife behind the car, and the couple sat firmly on the car.

Mr. Li, 63, suffered from uremia a few years ago and needed to go to The Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital for dialysis three times a week. Because her daughter works in Nanjing, every time she went to the hospital in the past, her wife called for a taxi and took the couple to the hospital. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the couple needed to stay at home and isolate, and going to the hospital for treatment became a problem. After Zhou Jing, the head of the grid, learned of this matter, he reported to the community as soon as possible.
Zhou Jing told reporters that at that time, the community wanted to recruit volunteers in the form of compensation and accompany the couple to the hospital every week. When recruiting volunteers, Wu Guozhang took the initiative to sign up. But when he learned that it was a paid service, he said that if he gave money, he would not do it. As a result, Wu Guozhang became the "temporary nanny" of the old Li couple.
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday is the day when Mr. Li goes to the hospital for dialysis, and Wu Guozhang will go to the community one day in advance to receive epidemic prevention materials. From the Royal Dragon Bay Garden Community to the Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital, the whole journey is nearly 8 kilometers. In order to ensure the safety of the old couple, Wu Guozhang could only ride slowly, taking nearly 40 minutes each one way. Mr. Li started dialysis at 8 o'clock, and the whole process took four hours. After the couple entered the hospital, Wu Guozhang rode home first, waited until the time was almost up, and then rode to the hospital to pick up the old couple.
"If you don't take a penny for no reason, you still take risks, and the average person is afraid that it will be difficult to do it." Wu Tingwu, a resident, said that during this time, he felt that the neighborhood relations were more harmonious and everyone was more united. (Correspondent Yu Tingting Yuan Shu Reporter Zhang Xu)
