New makeup should face the Zhu Lou, deep lock spring light a courtyard of sorrow.
Walk to the atrium to count the flowers, and the dragonflies fly up to the jade scratch their heads.

Carefully put on makeup and slowly walk down the attic, deep courtyard spring light although good only add to the sorrow.
Coming to the courtyard and counting the flowers that were in full bloom, the dragonfly flew to the top of the jade hairpin.

The poem describes a palace lady who puts on new makeup but is not appreciated, and can only count the flowers alone in boredom to relieve boredom, causing dragonflies to fly up to the head. The whole poem is lyrical about the palace grievances, but it is very different from other similar poems. Through the portrayal of the goddess of the palace, the poet shows her feelings of resentment. Poetic and original, full of charm.
Bai Juyi's original poem begins with "low-flowered trees reflecting small makeup buildings" to hint at young women, while Liu Yuxi and the poem "New Makeup Should Face Under Zhu Lou" are very clear, and incidentally point out the mood of the characters. In the poem, the heroine freshens up and hurried downstairs. The word "suitable for face" shows that she is quite serious and exquisite in her makeup. It seems that not only is there no worry, but there seems to be a little joy. The bright spring light made her temporarily forget the troubles in her heart, and this beautiful scenery made a hazy hope sprout in her heart.
The second sentence of Liu Yuxi's poem is to say that when you come downstairs, it is indeed a song and a butterfly dance, and the willows are green and red. However, the courtyard is deep, the courtyard door is locked, alone, even more lonely, so full of sorrow. Judging from the development of the poem, this is a sentence that carries on from the top to the bottom.
The third and fourth sentences of the poem further write this "melancholy" word. The heroine's original intention of going downstairs was not to seek sorrow and hatred, if she had known this, she would not have had to "go down to the Zhu Lou" or "new makeup". But the result is just a cause for no reason. This sharp change in painful mood made her no longer have the heart to enjoy the play, so she had to use "counting flowers" to dispel her depression and pass this great spring light. The reason for "counting flowers" is also to sigh, pity, and hurt this spring flower that no one looks at and is fleeting. Just as she was silently counting, "the dragonfly flew up to the jade scratching its head." It's a wonderful stroke. It implicitly portrays her gaze in pain; it also implies that the heroine has a flower-like appearance, so that the dragonflies who are always in the flowers also mistake the beauty for flowers and gently fly on the jade head; and it also means that her situation is like the spring flowers in this courtyard, lonely and deeply locked, no one appreciates, and can only attract this ignorant dragonfly. It is true that flowers are like people, people are like flowers, and spring is empty. "For whom is the pieces falling apart for whom?" This naturally and implicitly leads to the theme of people's sorrow and sorrow.
