The successive commanders of the Fifth Army were all famous generals of the Nationalist Army, the first was the famous Du Yuming, the second was the crazy general Qiu Qingquan, and the third was named Xiong Xiaosan, and it was under his rule that the Fifth Army was annihilated by our army in the Battle of Huaihai.
However, Chiang Kai-shek could not bear that his main army number would disappear like this, so he found a person to rebuild the Fifth Army, and this person was a Gaoji. It is worth mentioning that Gaoji was also one of the prisoners of war of our army in the Battle of Huaihai, but he later absconded to Fujian and returned to Chiang Kai-shek.
Gao Jiren joined the Whampoa Military Academy under the introduction of Du Yuming, and after graduating from the Whampoa Military Academy, he also served as a soldier under Du Yuming's hands. Later, Du Yuming became the commander of the Fifth Army, and it should be known that the Fifth Army was the only mechanized unit in chiang Kai-shek's hands at that time, so the Gaoji people were also unlimited scenery and served as the battalion commander of the supplementary battalion of the First Armored Corps, so he was also a veteran of the Fifth Army, which was one of the reasons why Chiang Kai-shek later asked him to preside over the rebuilding of the Fifth Army.
The first battle of the Fifth Army was the Battle of Kunlun Pass, when the Gaoji people followed the Fifth Army against the Twelfth Brigade of the Fifth Division of the Japanese Army, because this time the weapons and equipment of the Chinese army were no longer inferior, so they successfully repelled the Japanese army and killed the Japanese brigade commander Masao Nakamura, which made Chiang Kai-shek very happy, so the meritorious people were promoted to the first rank, and the Gaoji people became the commander of the major general regiment.
In 1942, when the 200th Division went to Burma, the commander of the division at that time was the famous Dai Anlan, and Gao Jiren was the deputy division commander, which can be said to be brilliant in foreign battlefields. He successively fought in Piyou, Donggua, Tangji and other places, and made many military achievements. Later, Dai Anlan unfortunately died, and Gao Jiren became the acting division commander, led the great counterattack in western Yunnan, avenged Dai Anlan's hatred, and opened the Burma Highway with consecutive victories.
After the victory of the War of Resistance, the Fifth Army embarked on the battlefield of the War of Liberation, but this army was not the opponent of our army. In the end, the Fifth Army was completely annihilated, Du Yuming was captured, Qiu Qingquan was killed in battle, and Xiong Xiaosan abandoned his army and fled. At that time, the Gaoji people were shot and wounded and captured, but he found an opportunity to escape while recuperating in the hospital, fled all the way to Fujian, and eventually returned to Chiang Kai-shek, who in order to rebuild the Fifth Army, let the Gaoji people rebuild the Fifth Army and serve as the commander.
After the liberation of Fujian, the Gaoji went to Taiwan and led the rebuilt Fifth Army to garrison Xiaojinmen. He died in Taipei in 1979 at the age of 78.
