On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the 9.18 change, I heard the sound of air raid sirens outside the window, and recorded the heroic stories of the Anti-Japanese War in Tengchong, Yunnan Province, in order to comfort the heroes and warn future generations.

Yunnan inch surname, originally "爨", was changed to the consonant "inch" character. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the Inch family began to guard Tengyue in Yunnan. General Qi, literally "Nian Jie", was born in 1895 in Tengchong, Yunnan. In 1909, he was admitted to the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall and joined the League in 1910. He participated in the Xinhai Revolution and the War of Defending the Law.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the general served under the 3rd Army of Tang Huaiyuan Commander, fortified the Zhongtiao Mountain Theater, fought fierce battles with the Japanese on many occasions, and made many military achievements. In May 1941, the Japanese invaded the Nakajō Mountains on a large scale, and at this time General Inch Qi had served as the commander of the 12th Division of the 3rd Army of the National Revolutionary Army, and led his troops to fight the Japanese in the western part of the Nakajō Mountains, and was surrounded by heavy enemy troops. On May 12, 1941, General Inch learned that the commander of the 3rd Army, General Tang Huaiyuan, had been martyred in a heroic way, and he was so distraught that he led his troops to fight the enemy, first being shot in the chest and then breaking his legs by enemy artillery fire. With a seriously wounded body, the general knew that he was powerless to break through, and for the national personality, he left his subordinates with vitality, and the general killed himself with a sword, and was martyred in Cherry Valley, Maojiawan Town, Yuanqu County, Zhongtiao Mountain.

His surrounding subordinates were reluctant to leave the body of the general, and suffered casualties in the ensuing battle. After the soldiers of the division's special agent company were injured, they asked the villagers to bury the division commander, and on the evening of the same day, four villagers, including Lou Shiyou, thanked the general's righteousness and ventured to complete the burial at night. In May 1986, the general was posthumously recognized as a revolutionary martyr by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and in 1989, the general's remains were moved to the Tengchong National Martyrs Cemetery for burial.

The news of General Inch Qi's sacrifice for the country was transmitted back to the home of Tengchong in Yunnan, and his father, who was over eighty years old, did not shed tears, but shouted three "good" words to the sky! His father was originally a former Qing Wuju, and later served as a garrison of Sanpin Tengyue, and repeatedly made side contributions in the war against foreign humiliation at the end of the Qing Dynasty.

On May 10, 1942, a year after the martyrdom of General Inch, 292 Japanese Kou captured Tengchong City without firing a single bullet. The 88-year-old veteran general saw that the Wokou were rampant, his hometown was ruined, he hated himself for his old age, he was powerless to kill thieves, he sat under a thousand-year-old cedar that had been cut off by lightning in front of the Guanyin Temple in Daluoqiping, Tengchong City, and did not eat for seven days, his eyes were blind, and he died with hatred, so as to show his ambition to resist Japan!

The heroic deeds of General Zhizhiqi have been recorded, but the search for the remains of the general has been obtained from the inquiry materials, and the situation is as touching as the deeds of Yuan Chonghuan's old ministry She Shi of the Ming Dynasty who guarded the tomb of Yuan Chonghuan for 300 years.

On May 10, 1986, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China issued the "Certificate of Revolutionary Martyrs" to General Inch Qi. Later, Colonel Zhipinde, the son of the general, searched for many people, and finally found the old man Lou Shiyou who buried the remains of General Zhizhiqi in a small village with only eight families on the lower bay mountain of Maojiawan in Yuanqu County. When asked about the past when the remains of General Zhizhiqi were buried, the old man told the process in detail:

"When the fighting was fierce, we all ran to the mountains to take refuge and sneaked home when we didn't fight. On the way home that day, four of our brothers met a soldier from the 12th Division's special service company named Chai Tingzhu, also known as Chai Jinshan. He said: "Fellow, today our division commander is dead, I also hung up the color, the division commander's right leg is broken, just down the road, no matter what, please help bury it." Chai said he was hungry and asked us for something to eat. The four of us went home, came to Cherry Valley with tools such as pickaxes and shovels, and according to Chai Tingzhu's words, the legs of the inch division commander were broken, and only a little bit of skin, clothing and pants were different, and finally found the body of the inch division commander. He also found a badge in his pocket to attend the meeting. We concluded that this was the commander of the inch division. He chose a place to dig a pit more than 3 feet deep and buried him. After the burial, we also deliberately picked up two pieces of shells and put them into the stone hole on the right side of the tomb to mark them. ”

Lou Shiyou's three brothers have died one after another, and only Lou Shiyou is the only one who buried the remains of the general. Lou Shiyou led people to the cemetery to investigate, found the mark made of shell fragments, and they also gently opened the soil on the grave and saw bones and shrapnel. Through verification and confirmation, this is undoubtedly the remains of General Inch Qi.

Therefore, Colonel Inch Pinde applied to the relevant departments of Yunnan Province, requesting that the remains of General Inch be moved back to his hometown for burial. On September 6, 1989, with the reply of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Civil Affairs Department of Yunnan Province issued a special document to the Civil Affairs Bureau of Tengchong County, solemnly clarifying the matters concerning the relocation and burial of the remains of the martyrs: the shape and scale of the newly built tombs and monuments are roughly the same as the tombs of the martyrs in the cemetery; The planned expenses within 2,000 yuan for the construction of the tombstone shall be settled by the provincial department; The excavation and cremation of the remains of martyrs, the collection and transportation of the remains, the content of the inscriptions, and the burial ceremony shall be handled by the county after proposing a plan and soliciting the opinions of the martyrs' families.

With this clear approval, Tengchong County allocated 2,000 yuan for the relocation of the funeral, and Colonel Cun Pinde sent his daughter Cun Zunyan and grandson Cun Jianguo to Yuanqu County to handle the relocation and burial. On September 23, 1989, led by the elderly Lou Shiyou, Ji Zigeng, a reporter of the 12th Division of the National Revolutionary Army and a retired cadre under General Inch's former subordinates, and the descendants of generals, Cun Zunyan and Inch Jianguo, Pu Wenyu, deputy governor of the Yuanqu County Government, led Jin Suqin, deputy director of the County Civil Affairs Bureau, Daniel Zhang Wu, director of the Preferential Care Unit, Qi Forest, a civil affairs assistant, and Zhang Yuliang, mayor of Maojiawan Town, held a memorial ceremony in front of the tomb, presented wreaths and bang lian, and jointly participated in the excavation of loyal skeletons.

They left Hujiayu on the same day, went to DaiXian for cremation, and then returned to Yuanqu County. Embark on your return journey the next day. Arrived in Kunming on September 28 and returned to Tengchong on October 7. The county party committee, the county people's congress, the county government, the county CPPCC committee, relevant departments and the public held a solemn ceremony to welcome the loyal remains and buried them in the Tengchong National Martyrs Cemetery.

Anti-Japanese heroes, the soul returns to the hometown!

Six months after the martyr's remains were returned, on February 23, 1990, the elderly Lou Shiyou, who had guarded the tomb for the martyrs for 48 years, died of illness. The old man once said: "The general's loyal skeleton has returned to his hometown, and my obligation as a tomb keeper has finally been fulfilled."

In 1940, General Inch Sex Qi was awarded the "Order of The Order of The Land, Sea and Air Type" by the Military Commission of the National Government, with the title No. 1373, which was donated by his son Colonel Inch Virtue to the Chinese Military Museum for preservation in 1985; on May 10, 1986, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China issued the "Revolutionary Martyr Certificate" to General Inch; in September 2014, the Ministry of Civil Affairs issued the first list of 300 famous anti-Japanese heroes and heroes, and General Inch was listed.

Today, 90 years after the 918 Shenyang Revolution in 1931, I heard the air defense sirens sounded six times throughout the day in Jincheng, and the alarm bells rang for a long time:

Although the world is safe, forgetting the war will be dangerous!

Peace is not easy to come by, may the martyrs rest in peace.
