Api Reading Ancient Poems: The Night of the Guest and the Old Dolls (Tang: Dai Shulun)

"Guest Night and the Old Doll Collection" is the work of the Tang Dynasty poet Dai Shulun. The poem describes the accidental encounter between the author and the deceased during his travels. Translation:

On an autumn night a full moon hangs high in the sky,

The light sprinkled all over the portal of Miyagi Castle.

In the capital can be the same as Jiangnan,

Instead, everyone suspected that they had met in a dream.

The autumn wind alarms the black magpie that perches on the branches,

A weeping insect in the dew grass.

Tourists who are wandering away should be drunk for a long time,

Keep each other's bells for fear of hearing the news.

Dai Shulun (732-789), poet of the Tang Dynasty. Zi Yougong (字幼公), a subordinate duke of Yizuo, was a native of Jintan (now part of Jiangsu). He served as the envoy of Fuzhou Thorn History and Rong Guan Jing. His poems mostly express secluded life and leisurely moods. The original collection has been dispersed, and the Ming Dynasty has the "Dai Shulun Collection" and the "Quan Tang Poems" recorded two volumes of his poems.
