The predecessor of the school was the fifth branch of the Taiyue Administrative Cadre School in the Luyu Border District of Jinji, during which it was relocated and renamed many times, and finally in 1952, in order to commemorate the martyr Jia Kangjie, the earliest communist, outstanding revolutionary and educator in the southern Jinnan region, the Shanxi Provincial People's Government renamed the school "Kangjie Middle School". In 1953, it was identified by the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education as one of the six key middle schools in the province, and in 1954, it became one of the 30 key middle schools in the country directly linked by the Ministry of Education.
