From July 3 to 7, 2019, as the 5th China Original Drama Invitation Exhibition, the drama "The Sound of the Small Town Piano", jointly produced by the National Drama Theatre of China and the Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports of Deqing County, Zhejiang Province, will be performed for 5 times at the National Drama Theatre.

The play's screenwriters Li Baoqun and Pan Naiqi, director Fu Yongfan, stage designer Liu Kedong, lighting design Wang Ruiguo, composer Shi Song, starring Li Mengnan, Chen Cheng, Zhou Chuanjie, Lü Jing, Lu Hanbiao, Chu Shuozhong, Wang Jingjing, etc. The play is based on the true stories of farmers in Zhejiang and re-created artistically. Through a very individual village carpenter, the whole drama leads a group of farmers to build pianos from scratch with their dreams, and the struggle to build a well-known piano town at home and abroad has created a group of peasants with different personalities, showing the contemporary Chinese farmers' moving pursuit of life dreams, beautiful life and life value.
Screenwriter Li Baoqun expects that the audience will like the small rural characters who come alive in the play, and like this drama about the Chinese countryside and Chinese farmers. The play focuses on writing people, expressing and excavating the inner world of the characters, full of sense of the times, with a strong breath of life and the characteristics of Jiangnan region, the combination of realism and freehand, and the integration of expression, poetry, symbolism and other techniques, rich in the aesthetic quality of modern drama. Director Fu Yongfan positioned the play as a drama with a sense of romantic comedy, he believes that everyone has their own dreams, persistent pursuit is the ideal, struggle for it is faith, may the dreams of the world come true!
In the small bridges and reeds, small wooden boats sway on the sparkling water, egrets fly, and the people of the town stage their own entrepreneurial legends. On the stage, the beautiful Yue opera "Liang Zhu" singing section makes the audience feel as if they are in the water town of Jiangnan; the carpenters, blacksmiths, tailors, and watchmakers in the town report their homes with different personalities and witty humor, which amuse the audience; when the elderly Ade in a wheelchair heroically said "Enough Courage", when the young Ade confidently said "I want to be the King of the Chinese Piano", there was applause under the stage! Just over two hours on the stage, more than thirty years of old and new time are intertwined, and eastern aesthetics and Western art are blended, presenting a poetic picture of the struggle of Chinese farmers to realize their piano dreams! A cheerful and exciting triumph of the times!
After the first round of performances, Wang Shaohua, member of the Standing Committee of the Deqing County CPC Committee and minister of propaganda in Zhejiang Province, praised: "The drama "The Sound of the Small Town Piano" is based on the story of Deqing farmers who started from scratch with their dreams and built pianos from scratch, vividly presenting the course of our Deqing farmers' entrepreneurial struggle on the stage, showing that Deqing farmers dare to fight for their personality and pursue a better life. At the expert seminar, the experts unanimously praised this work for reflecting the people's deep yearning for beauty and the spirit of striving for it by writing the story of peasants making pianos and chasing dreams, and at the same time praised the new look brought by reform, opening up and emancipation of the mind to China's rural areas. Liu Danying, a student at Capital Normal University, sighed: "From the industrious small-town farmers, from the simple era when there were no high-rise buildings and sounds and horses, I really realized that pursuing dreams is another interpretation of life." Zhou Qi, secretary general of the China Society of Surveying and Mapping, said that "The Sound of the Small Town Piano" is the best drama she has seen in recent years reflecting the life of contemporary farmers! Deqing, where the story takes place, is a hot land of beautiful dreams. ”
It is reported that in the second round of performances, "The Sound of the Town Piano" will be moderately adjusted. The whole play will strengthen the emotional drama of the protagonistSde, Lotus and Wenying, strengthen the self-reflection of the small town people in the crisis, and further unify the style of the whole play, strengthen the sense of heaviness on the basis of romantic comedy, improve the narrative style of the old man recalling the past and the real history, and go deep into the past and the hearts of the parties. I believe that this drama full of life and romantic comedy will be loved by more audiences.
