In 2016, he went to the Jilin Chinese herbal medicine planting base to study, purchased red peony seeds for breeding, and also applied for the "Haifeng Chinese Herbal Medicine Planting Cooperative", officially embarking on the road of getting rich by planting Chinese herbal medicine.

In the autumn of 2018, Yang Haifeng sold the first batch of breeding red peony seedlings, earning more than 400,000 yuan, recovering all the investment, not to mention, but also solving the problem of funds for the next step of development. Yang Haifeng is not like many Chinese herbal medicine growers who follow the trend, when the price is good, they follow the trend and give up when the price is not good. In the past 7 years, Yang Haifeng has responded to the fluctuations of the Chinese herbal medicine market, selling Chinese herbal medicine seedlings when the market is good, and choosing suitable plots for self-planting when the market is not good, and the planting area has increased year by year. It is reported that he planted 215 acres of Chinese herbal medicine in 100 acres of red peony, 50 acres of white fresh skin, 50 acres of Cangshu, 15 acres of seedling ponds, in the past 5 years, a total of 1 million Chinese herbal medicine seedlings, more than 10,000 catties of seeds, 5 acres of herbal roots, a total income of 850,000 yuan. This year, it is expected to make a profit of 700,000 yuan by selling herbal roots and seeds, which has played a strong "medicinal effect" of Chinese herbal medicine to get rich.

At present, in the stage of weeding in the Chinese herbal medicine field, Yang Haifeng has hired more than 10 people in this company to weed to help the masses of workers increase their income. He signed a recycling agreement with Jilin Pharmaceutical Company to develop the cultivation of Chinese herbal medicines in the direction of industrialization, scale and order, and has become a new channel for broadening the income of the masses of workers and the new engine for the surrounding masses to increase their income and become rich.
