Revealing a hidden friendship between Mao Zedong and Qi Baishi

Zhu Kuizang: Mao Zedong Ink Treasure

Zhu Kui pressed:

It took four years and got a treasure.

Sigh, sigh

The following fan of Qi Baishi is painted with gourds and inscriptions, and the fan inscribed on the other side of Mao Zedong reveals a friendship between Qi Baishi and Mao Zedong that was deliberately concealed and not known.

In yesterday's article, I asked Mr. Yu Quanzhong, a close friend of the literature and history experts, to interpret it, and to admire Mr. Yu Quanzhong for quoting the scriptures and explaining the origins of this fan with Mao Zedong and Qi Baishi.

Today I am writing another article, the same work, from the simple and easy to understand meaning, for the reader!

Thanks to Mr. Yu Quanzhong!

Thank you for having you!

Revealing a hidden friendship between Mao Zedong and Qi Baishi

The gourd theme is loved by the audience and appreciated by the elegant and popular, so as a professional painter who is grounded in the ground, and a flower and bird painter who often paints with the themes appreciated by the ordinary people, Qi Baishi naturally has a special love for the gourd theme.

Mr. Qi Baishi painted a lot of paintings with gourds as the theme, and only two poems were selected for the inscriptions of the gourds he painted:

First, there is no other fantasy worker, and the rough writing and light depiction are always the same.

Blame the heavenly worker creation, do not renew the sample with Ping Weng.

Second, the head is large and small, the appearance is realistic, and it is hoped that people must be recognized, and it is a gentleman's body.

This fan-faced gourd painting and inscription are not ordinary, they were given to Chairman Mao Zedong by Qi Baishi, and the inscription is:

"A leaf, a vine and a gourd seem to be not much (paper) bone"

paraphrase:

"A leaf, a vine and a gourd", here Qi Baishi called himself small, less, but Er!

"It doesn't seem like much of a paper bone." "Paper bone" originally meant a fan, which seems to be small but suitable for drawing on a fan. ”

Here Qi Baishi humbled himself and showed weakness to Mao Zedong, meaning", "I am very small, I can only paint on this paper." ”

The official would ask, since it was given to Mao Zedong? Why not inscription?

It is easy to understand that Qi Baishi, as a person from the old society, and the new China has just been founded, the letter of appeal written to a founding leader must be sincerely afraid, and the following offenders absolutely dare not have the slightest disrespect, plus we can completely feel Mr. Qi Baishi's uneasiness at this moment through the picture and inscription, a kind of uneasiness, do not know, do not know why, including the state of mind of hoping that no matter whether the other party is killed or killed as soon as possible, it is not suitable for the inscription.

Therefore, Mr. Qi Baishi also took pains, including inscriptions and chapters, all of which were extremely cautious and measured.

Why?

What was the background that made Qi Baishi paint such a fan to Mao Zedong?

I left a foreshadowing and looked back.

The other inscription poem of the fan that Mao Zedong sent with the letter of appeal in Qi Baishi selected Su Shi's "Title Xi LinBi" of the Song Dynasty:

Horizontally, it is a peak on the side of the ridge, and the height of the distance is different.

I don't know the true face of Lushan Mountain, but I am only in this mountain.

Translations

From the front and side, the Lushan Mountains are undulating and the peaks are towering, and from the distance, close, high and low, they all look different. The reason why I can't distinguish the true face of Lushan is because I am in the middle of Lushan.

After reading Qi Baishi's letter of appeal and seeing qi Baishi's fan paintings and inscriptions, Mao Zedong copied a Song Dynasty Su Shi's "Title Xi Lin Bi", and with Mao Zedong's knowledge, he naturally understood the meaning of Qi Baishi, and it was inconvenient to say broken or inconvenient inscriptions, so he copied Su Shi's "Title Xi Lin Bi" and returned it to Mr. Qi Baishi.

Mr. Qi Baishi naturally understood, after reading the poem, his heart was put down, and Mao Zedong was telling himself that it was advisable to look at the amount of wind and things and look at the true face of Lushan.

Why did Mr. Qi Baishi write a letter of complaint to Mao Zedong?

And where does this fan come from?

In November 1950, after the land reform work in Hunan began, the land in Qi Baishi's hometown should be confiscated according to the regulations, Qi Baishi and his family were also classified as landlords, his eldest son Qi Liangyuan was also arrested, if he did not withdraw from the land and rent, he would not only be criticized and killed, but also may be shot, Qi Baishi also felt panicked after receiving the letter from his family, he realized that the land and residence in his hometown were likely to affect his family, and in desperation, he sent a letter of distress to Chairman Mao, in which he talked about the situation of the family's land property ,“...... In previous years, there were farmhouses in Xiangtan Baishi Puru's home in Hunan Province, with a field of about 200 acres, and the residence entered... It is proposed to dedicate all the farmhouses in the previous item to the state in order to return them to the people. ”

Seeing that now, everyone should know the source of this fan, and this fan should be forwarded to Mao Zedong together with Qi Baishi's letter of appeal, and Mao Zedong wrote a reply to invite Qi Baishi to come to the meeting, and at the same time sent back the fan in the fan inscription.

For Qi Baishi, this fan is both a stepping stone and a stone throwing to ask for directions, and at the same time it is a barometer, and after reading the inscription poem on Mao Zedong's fan, Qi Baishi's hanging heart was put down.

Later, the two seals that Mr. Qi Baishi gave to Mao Zedong were first made at this time.

Qi Baishi specially printed the seal of "Repentance Wutang" on the fan surface

The origin of Qi Baishi's "Repentance Wutang" seal, after reading it, you will understand the deep meaning of Qi Baishi;

In 1923, within a year, Qi Baishi was killed by his parents, which hit him very hard. Qi Baishi's family was poor in his early years, and his middle age was not yet rich, and he had been struggling with his parents and wife. After the age of 55, the war in his hometown of Hunan was chaotic, and Qi Baishi was forced to drift to Beijing, neither serving at home nor welcoming him to Beijing, but making his parents worry and worry. When his mother was dying, she asked about him again and again. Whenever he thought of this, Qi Baishi's mood was extremely remorseful, remembering that the lamb ate milk and knelt down to repay the favor, and the little crow had to feed back when he grew up, and as a son of man, he could not filial piety to his parents. For this reason, he often slept restlessly, so he carved a "repentant Wutang" to express his shame for his parents.

Qi Baishi used the seal of "Repentance Wutang", which has the meaning of "remorse" and also has the meaning of "repentance".

This seal acts on this, and it is also the ingenuity of Mr. Qi Baishi, which everyone appreciates carefully.

Mr. Qi Baishi pressed the "Three Hundred Stones Seal Qi" chapter in front of the fan inscription.

This is also Mr. Qi Baishi's ingenuity is unique, all over Mr. Qi Baishi for the painting inscription and seal, Du Du has not seen this seal, there are "three hundred stone seal rich man", do not see the "three hundred stone seal Qi" seal, straight to the point, in front of Mao Zedong, it is not appropriate to call "rich man", so specially carved this seal for this fan, a show of their own attention, a show of their respect for Mao Zedong.

There is also the meaning of "Qi Mou only has three hundred seals".

And the back of the paragraph is directly lyrical "train three hundred stone seal rich man", and "three hundred stone seal Qi" echoes far away, a little impolite, straight to the chest, told the chairman, living in the "car (the car here changed to "train", this is also the first time Mr. Qi Baishi used "train" instead of "car alley") hutong, I am a rich man with only three hundred stone seals." In fact, it is not rich!

Here is the origin of the "Three Hundred Stone Seal Rich Man" seal:

Qi Baishi was extremely frugal in his life, and when he was young, he practiced seal carving in order to save money, he carried the basket to the mountains and rivers to pick stones to pick up and take home, brushed and polished the stones into the shape of a chapter, and practiced seal carving. Because the stone is not easy to come by, he cherishes it very much, and he always carves one side and then the other side, until the six sides of each stone are full of carvings before changing to another stone. Over time, he accumulated a lot of engraved and multi-faceted seals, and at that time, Qi Baishi's family was not rich, so he laughed at himself as a "rich man with three hundred stone seals". According to Qi Folai's recollection, the "stone seal" did not have three hundred squares, but only because it was a multi-sided seal, one side was multi-sided, so Qi Baishi was called "three hundred stone seals", and people jokingly called it "three hundred stone seal rich man".

In 1919, Qi Baishi went north to Beijing to develop, and when he packed his luggage, he was afraid of heavy luggage, so he put the "Three Hundred Stone Seals" in his hometown and did not bring it into Beijing. Moreover, the stone seal was hidden in a place that no one knew, and since then the real "three hundred stone seals" have disappeared. After arriving in Beijing, many seals have been engraved one after another, but in a strict sense, this is no longer the real "three hundred stone seals", so the "three hundred stone seals" have a before and after.

Finally, the seal, "the seal of Qi Huang", is not the "seal of Qi Baishi", according to etiquette, such an important appeal should be made with the big name "Qi Baishi" to show solemnity, "Huang" Meiyuye, "Baishi" also has the name of Meiyu, Mao Zedong is a politician, a military expert, but at the same time a literati, Qi Huang, elegant and popular appreciation, not humble, just right.

In that era, such friendship would certainly not be publicized, but had to be dusty.

Fortunately, history has left us with this great "memory of the times", allowing us to remember and witness the hidden friendship between the great Mao Zedong and the great Mr. Qi Baishi.

Thanks to Chairman Mao Zedong!

Thank you Mr. Qi Baishi!
