Every Thursday afternoon, as soon as the bell rings at the end of the second class, the children of shun tak secondary school's leaf vein bookmark club will rush to the club activity room and actively prepare for the activities.
In class, I saw a classmate under the guidance of teacher Xu Jun'e, using tweezers to carefully clip out the previously boiled osmanthus leaves from a large basin of water and distribute them to several students responsible for brushing the veins. "In many practices, we have found that osmanthus leaves are reticulated veins and hard, which is very suitable for leaf vein bookmarking. The leaves are boiled in a solution of sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate, with the aim of shedding the pulp. Student Autumn Rain explained.
The students who brushed the leaf veins used soft-bristled toothbrushes to brush off the leaf flesh very patiently and carefully along the direction of the veins, and when they saw the crystalline leaf veins displayed in front of them, the students' hearts were full of joy.
When it comes to the creative part of using the imagination - the children do whatever they want, carefully drawing their favorite pictures on the leaves as thin as cicada wings, including cartoon characters, proud snow plums, cute pet animals, ink landscapes, Peking Opera faces... The colorful blades suddenly become a unique drawing board. After the dyeing was finished, the children sculpted, punched holes, hung tassels, and made beautiful leaf vein bookmarks. Every once in a while, Xu Jun'e would let the children bring back their own handmade leaf vein bookmarks to give to their relatives and friends, and many people were amazed and loved when they received this special gift.

Singing the Qin dialect is Zheng Zhankun, the school's political teacher and class teacher. Teacher Zheng led the students to learn to sing the excerpt of "Three Drops of Blood" "Ancestral Home of Hancheng County, Shaanxi", and also played the excerpt of the famous drama "Hanging Painting" on the multimedia device for the children to appreciate.
